Anyone have or have had experience with this compact pistol?

Nice shooter, very lightweight, great trigger, bright fiber optic front sight, 16 + 1 capacity and it comes with three mags but you're limited to field stripping it for cleaning because you're going to need a master's degree in engineering to disassemble the clamshell grip itself. Luckily, from what I've seen, most of the powder residue goes out the sides during cycling, so getting down into the grip itself probably isn't all that necessary.

IN my opinion it is one of the best decisions in firearm purchasing I have ever made. However, I did what I always do to a new firearm...COMPLETE disassembly, clean, inspect, lube it ....not just take it out and shoot the thing. Small adjustments, spring realignment, clean the firing pin channel, ...small things will prevent many of the small problems owners send a new firearm in for repair can be eliminated doing this.
Great trigger...even better after firing it with snap caps or an o-ring while watching TV. Using some Mothers and doing a few hundred slide racks is great for the gun also.
Accuracy?....see the pic.

I never understood the desire to disassemble a functioning gun! I use a tub of mineral spirits to dunk the handgun, cover and place in the sun for a couple of days. Then after all the gunk dissolves in the MS bath, relube and shoot! As mentioned, there is no need to tale the P17 apart. Mine has 1000s of rounds through it and works better than when new! It is easy to assume it is junk as it weighs next to nothing, but it shoots very accurately and is 100% reliable with all the usual cheap .22 ammo.

Doug, it's not posh, it's not fancy...in fact it's pretty crude but I've bought three, two for me and one for my son, both of mine have Keltec's green dot accessary slides on them....that's 15 shots at 15 yards off a casual rest. Mine are reliable and accurate. A little shopping around can get one for under $200 then another $200 for the slide complete with green dot.

I have two of them. The adjustable fiber optic front sight is wonderful. The trigger is very light and predictable. Have killed armadillo, possum and other varmints with mine. My daughter carries the other one because it is very light and slim.
I carry mine a lot on my rural property. It is so light you never know it is there. Shot it last week with Winchester Max 42 HP. Small groups of bullseyes. Be patient adjusting sight until you get it shooting right where you want it. Great light carry Varmint Pistol.

I have one and love it. Great suppressor host and just loads of fun. I know they had some issues early on but ever YouTube gun channel raves about them nowadays.

BTW, the GrabaGun deal looks great but by the time you add "fees" and shipping, it comes to just over $200 if I recall. You can often find better deals at KYGUNCO.com and GunZoneDeals.com, just my .02.

Just a note, several testers have had failures due to slide/dot combos weight which it wasn't designed to take, add the cost of the dot sight and you're unlikely to beat the price of the slide/sight combo sold by Keltec. Those screws on the back of the standard slide aren't there for a plate/sight.

Great, fun little gun ! Highly recommended. It only weighs (on my digital scale) 14.75 oz. fully loaded. (16 +1) Research which model you want. It comes in different flavors. Some have only a 10 round capacity, others don't have adjustable/fiber optic sights. Different colors available, also. I see you are ex military. One of the vendors was offering free shipping for servicemen if you called and ask. Sorry, don't remember which one. It was listed in a recent post, though.

I don't have the Kel-Tec P-17 but I do have a Taurus TX-22 (also 16 + 1). Everything Kel-Tec makes now is phenomenal so I have no doubt that it will function flawlessly! My TX-22 is definitely one of my favorite guns to take to the range, especially suppressed, and if I didn't have it I would definitely get the Kel-Tec P-17 without hesitation!

But even more fun than the Taurus is my Kel-Tec PMR 30! I just wish I had a threaded barrel for it!

IMO you can't go wrong with a Kel-Tec now. Tey are phenomenal guns at great prices! 😍

When I initially bought mine, there were no other options other than the mount I bought. That's been quite a while ago. No failures, no problems, and no problems with any ammo I've tried cycling the slide. Red dot was basically free as it came on a Sig 9mm, and due to some Romeo 0 problems that cropped up in testing by SC Highway Patrol, I wasn't using it on the Sig, so it was free basically. Plus, if I buy the KelTec slide I'm forced to buy a Viridian RD whether I want it or not. So, the cost and reliability is very acceptable for me. And, if it were to break, I will probably buy another whole gun on sale for $199.99 and use the mount and red dot I have until it breaks.

KELTEC's marketing plan is to sell you a pistol for MSR of $220, but if you want a red dot, you buy the pistol and $199 slide and dot for $420. For $420, I might start looking at some other pistols that are not KelTec.

I bought mine because of the sights, capacity, and weight for a trail gun on hikes. Every place we hike in the Oregon coast range, including our own property is steep. Every year I try to carry less weight. What surprised me is how good it shoots. (Love the sights!) I have around 8 other 22lr pistols and revolvers. I use this one more than all the others combined.

One of the reasons I love KEL-TEC, their customer service is among the best in the industry!

I think it was in 2013 that I sent in my 17-year-old P-11 for some warranty work because it was having issues extracting the spent casings and this had been going on for 17 years!

I waited that long because I had other guns to carry and shoot so it wasn't like the KT was my only carry gun at the time.

KT CS ROCKS!!!🤘🤘🤘

Kel-Tec Firearms are awesome and my favorite rimfire gun is my PMR 30 (22WMR)! 🤪

Second favorite rimfire would definitely be my Taurus TX22!

Third favorite is my newest rimfire, the Beretta 21A "Bobcat"👍

yessir, both are great guns. I added the PMR30 to my collection recently...interesting design and extremely reliable.! It ran perfectly on CCI Maxi-Mags so I ordered a case.

The P17 seems to run everything so far, I've tested the usual hi-vel ammo and various selections of standard vel target ammo....the best accuracy seems to be either Eley Target or CCI standard.
