I looked at their site a little while ago. There was notice saying their supplier was no longer making some of the parts they needed, or something like that. They weren't taking any orders at that time.
Short answer .... Who knows ..there has been reports of supplier issues and also of a possible buy out. The web page issue is any ones guess. One of their main distributers is having issues contacting them also.
That being said they have accepted triggers for repair work with parts inventory.
Arnold Jewell died. They announced they couldn’t get parts. The websites is down and they’re not answering the phones. I think it’s safe to say that they’re out of business.
Does anyone know where I might get the number 2 screw on the HVR trigger. Takes a 1/16 allen wrench. Mine is rounded out. I was going to get in touch with Jewell but thats when I found out their site was closed. I dont know what size it is. Thanks.
I think I just got lucky and found a Jewell HVR (with right side top safety and no bolt release) available on Bullet Central. I went ahead and bought one for future use. I was going to post a link here but then I saw it's now listed as out of stock. Not sure who else stocked Jewell triggers but it might not hurt to look around
Turns out the Jewell trigger I mentioned above has the bolt release. I contacted Bullet Central and they made and error. I ordered the correct thing but what they actually had in stock was the HVR with right safety + bolt release. Bullet Central was very apologetic and offered to issue a pick up and full refund but I'm going keep it. Unless I'm missing something it'll work fine on a rifle with the release on the action. The bolt release on the trigger will just be non functions. It shouldn't bother anything. I could even cut it off with a cut of wheel easy enough but I'm not going to do that in case I want to use it on my 700 ADL 222 Rem someday.
Yea you can take a jewell trigger apart.
i have had quite a few of them apart. It seems overwhelming at first but they are quite simple. I’ll use fine crocus cloth with some oil and debur all the edges and sides plates. Clean with some brake clean and polish with semi chrome. Oil with spray Rem oil wipe dry and put back together leaving the safety parts and the bolt release out. Set it up for 1.5 oz.
to me there is a very slight creep in them. But I’m use to it. They have always worked well enough for me. I’ll save 450 bucks using it for now. Until I either decide to spend the money or try something else. There are a lot of diagrams online. Take pictures and you will be fine.
Yeah I thought about taking it apart but the lugs/pins that the bolt release lever is mounted on would still be protruding from the side more than they would on a non-bolt release trigger. I might as well leave it on. I have no desire to remove the safety on this one. It's intended for a rifle with a safety and is not going on a RFBR gun
Creep drives me crazy! There's no creep in any of my Jewell triggers. I've adjusted the HVR trigger that's on my BMR and the competition trigger on my RFBR gun and they're both great. I have another RFBR rifle coming that has a Jewell trigger too. Knowing the guy it's coming from there won't be any creep on that one. If it has I'll adjust it so it's like the others I have
