Just received two 10-round Izhmash 7-2 magazines! Came from a member here at a reasonable price! I am a happy camper!

davyjo--Congrats on finding these elusive 10rd "factory" mags. Dare you say what they cost you? They seem to command VERY high prices currently. Awhile back (a few years ago?) I was on the hunt for a 10rd'er myself, just on account of because, well, I didn't HAVE one:rolleyes:. Found one here on the RFC Marketplace, member was kind enough to sell it for a reasonable price at the time ($50 or so I think:unsure:). Still seemed like a lot of money to me for a POS Ruskie-made plastic mag though...Especially since there are some very reasonably priced 3D printed mags out there as well. Anyway, checked it for function in my pair of 7-2's and it works great in both rifles, feed angle etc fine and NO damage to the bullets on ejected live rounds. Very happy with it.... Things is, I'm not sure what to DO with it, or exactly why I thought I NEEDED it:). I have yet to actually USE it other than testing it for function. Kinda like a lot of other impulse buys we are all guilty of at one time or another. None of the comps that I shoot actually require more than a 5-shot string of fire at one time, so not exactly sure why I bought it in the first place LOL. Did I mention that I thought I needed it? Just curious, did you have a specific purpose in mind when you purchased yours?

I have one also, I think my 7-2 came with two
10 rounders and I traded one for a 5 +3 from
some here on RFC.
I rarely use the one I have ?
MWest--See, you're making my point for me:). Perhaps we will both end up in some sort of competition where we actually NEED more than five rounds per shot string, but that remains to be seen. For now, my one 10 rounder will remain safely stored away while I continue to shoot the snot out of my existing five rd mags.

DJ-

Outstanding find! Everyone talks down on the IZH poly mags, but they are rock solid, last for ever and don’t rust. What’s not to like…👍

I love the 10rnd mags for my stock builds so much that I build the mag well specifically for them.

I still remember one of my best gunbroker finds ever- a few years ago I saw a set of 4 of them pop up for like $25 each. I almost cracked the screen on my phone hitting the buy button! So satisfying. Still use them regularly today.

Buy once, cry once, use them forever. They won’t go down in value.

Nice custom stocks. I just did a head count and seems I have 12 mags for my 7-4. All are either 5 or 5+3 rounders and thanks to your referal I got baseplates that can convert the 5+3 to 5vers. My ritual is to load 7-4 mags at my desk while drinking morning coffee so I can later shoot prone and standing without interruptions to reload mags. No matter the gun, I always buy extra mags. Last weekend I shot about 300 rounds through my FV-SR and started to get bothered at having to stop every 30 rounds to reload mags. For the FV-SR I have 2 5vers and 2 10ers. Made me think I should get at least 2 more 10ers, enough to shoot a box of 50 at a time. Two years ago I got a penalty in a competition as I had only loaded 4 in one magazine. Very unnerving, and a wakeup call.

Just to set the tone - the below is offered only as a humorous thought...

 Is there really a controversy on the preference of 10rnd vs 5rnd mags... Maybe like the whole thing of how to face the toilet paper on the roller... which of course should always be paper facing out.
Just sayin'... ;)

74LS - Glad you picked up the printed baseplates to replace those PITA +3 plates, they are the bomb! I may have to order a few more for the parts box as I've become partial to them.

Hey Gobber, good tip on the TP;):). You'da man. However, the paper facing out is NO BUENO if you have a cat. The sucker was unraveling the roll until I put the paper facing IN. Just sayin'... He couldn't seem to figure that out (stupid cat!). No more unraveling... I'm not sure exactly how this ties into our discussion on the 10rd mags though, but good information nevertheless... we all need a little humor now and then:)

I just acquired 2 OEM 10 rounders and one 5 rounder - they are still out there sometimes. All 3 appear to be in nice shape. I use the 10 rounders for practice. I am going to try them out now. I've been having an issue with CCI SV coughing up green deposits. The Izhmash is clean this morning so I'll see if the 3 new to me mags function ok and if I get more green.
All 3 mags function fine and I did get more green.
I disassembled all 3 mags to clean them and it appears they are all brand new.

That is hard to answer. I paid twice what Gobber paid but I believe they would generally sell for more since they are rare in the states. Lost Nation R&D currently sells the 5 rounders and relay mags for 54.87. One can also purchase the 5 rounders from Larsen in Norway but shipping drives the price up unless you are buying lots of other stuff.
