Not at all uncommon. Sometimes the “fix” is to center the barrel before tightening the action screw.

I have never seen one that was not centered. With the "shoehorn" having the curvature on the front end of it I think that it would be difficult for the barrel not to be centered.
I wonder if the action had been removed from the stock and when it was reinstalled the recoil lug was not seated properly and the action is misaligned by the action setting on top of the recoil lug, this is not an uncommon occurrence .

I have a NIB T1X, its centered with or without the "shoehorn" I have another one thats slightly off but shoots very very accurately, long as its not touching the barrel should be good to go .

 

Yes mine is, be sure that the action is actually fully seated properly like drover suggested.

 

Mine is not centered in the stock channel. But not off enough to touch.

Edit- I have two stocks. The barrel has less gap on the left, in both of them.

 

I wonder if some guns have a crooked receiver and barrel fit like some 10/22's?

 

I have a 16" and a 20" both are centered in the stock.

 

I just picked up a T1X hunter and unfortunately the barrel is closer on the left side, but not touching. I loosened the action screws and tried to readjust it, but it worked its way back over after an afternoon of shooting.

For those who might not know. Before you fully tightening the action screws, set the rifle upright on the butt plate (or pad), lift it up a few inches and let it drop onto the surface. I do this a couple times to let it settle in to the correct position. Then I tighten the action screws
