I got it too and took it to mean they are LOOKING for forum founders for the topic specific mini-forums they were speaking of. I didn't find it too suspicious because it came through on the PM system for the forum. I didn't do anything with it but, it didn't seem to suspicious.

I have the same message you do. It's an invitation to possibly start your own community for some other interest you have. I have other hobbies besides shooting. So I could apply to create my own community for one of those other hobbies. You could do the same

I too received it, didn't like being part of a conversation I couldn't respond to, only option for response was to click on a link, seemed like I was being led and called B.S. on it.

That’s kinda how I saw it. No way to ask a question before handing out my million dollar sub-forum ideas.

I guess it would be good if RFC expanded, but then it might start getting into tactical tricycles from the 1950’s, and I’m just not that interested in that.

I got one as well I don't know but I would pass it on to one of our Mods for their advice.
personally I really don't want to change RFC I like it the way it is.

 

Fora is the software that this forum is run on. Yes the message is legit.

 

Got that as well. Can't reply to it or I would have told them that I retired after 45 years in software development. I hate technology. Hate is a strong word, suffice it to say that I'd rather play with my mill, my lathe and my guns.

It’s basically a separate entire forum where forum administrators and moderators can go to discuss the day-to-day runnings of our separate boards, deal with problems, air grievances, share advice and support to improve our individual communities and admin/moderator teams.

It’s legit. I was notified before the notices went out and received the message as well.
RFC’s parent company/owner Vertical Scope is trying something new, basically they are an advertising firm that advertises through online forums. So they’re going to select populations - like our forum, and are asking the members to fill out a survey to see if there would be interest in creating another forum, based on a subject that you’re interested in (other than rimfire).
If you’d be interested, they’re looking for folks who might have an interest in creating new forums & for some, whether there’s interest in being one of the volunteer administrators or moderators of said forum. Basically looking for ways to grow their forum communities by looking for folks with shared interests.
My team were notified recently, so we knew it was coming down the pike. It’s up to you whether you want to participate and take the survey or not, or whether you want to get involved beyond that. I will say that Vertical Scope has been on the level and fair to work with since they acquired our forum, which was originally owned by Indy/Dan and his family. They told us early on that RFC could be run the way that it always has, and that they would stay out of the day-to-day running of the board and they have kept their word to us on that score.

I got it also but in mine they offered to pay me $1,000 per week. Told em I was busy solving other worldly problems like where can I get some SK Match ammo.
So really let's use my ideas so you can start a new forum that I can help moderate so you can make more money. Where do I sign up?

I'm also on a fishing and boating forum that has a section where guys can send in "PG" rated pictures of their wife or girlfriend. Why anyone would do such a thing is beyond my comprehension and PG has turned into R+and borders on porn. What a cluster that can be.
