Is Green mountain still making 10/22 barrels?

I have been checking on new 10/22 barrels on Green Mountain's website for some time. Almost all are out of stock and continue to be out of stock.

Does anyone know if Green Mountain is making 10/22 barrels anymore? Just kind concerned...

I was hoping to use one of their really long barrels for a build.

Currahee, I have been eyeballing that very one!

The warranty was the only reason I hadn't pulled the trigger yet. I guess I'm not so worried about the warranty. I have never had a bad aftermarket barrel.

You have to like the length of that barrel. I could poke the critter before shooting him. Actually, I just want to try a really long barrel just for fun. The length cuts down on the volume. I would like to try a suppressor, but am unwilling to pay the tax stamp at this time.

Thank you!

I've been wondering the same thing, if GM has dropped making 10/22 barrels.
I have a 20" SS GM Sporter tapered barrel that is great, really like it on my SS Sporter setup.

Been waiting for the Blued version to come available and no joy for a quite while now. Only saw one on ebay and didn't want to buy that way.

Midway has Shaw 18" blued Sporter barrels on sale, so bought one. So...., the GMs should be available again? :ROFLMAO:
My SS Sporter is in a black hogue stock and love the look. That said, I fancy having a wood stock blued Sporter and will add this barrel and a wood stock to a synthetic carbine I already have.

I happened to look at Green Mountain's site earlier today - I pop in occasionally to see if the semi-mythical 28-inch stainless bull barrel is in stock. :)

The good news is there is a 10% sale on everything through the end of April; the bad news is there are only a very few 10/22 barrels in stock. If you happen to be looking for any of those in-stock items, though, enjoy the discount!

For what it is worth, I also noticed an announcement on the site that read, "We do not have an in-stock date for any of our
out-of-stock parts at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience." Not sure if that bodes well or ill for future production.

Unfortunate if they are getting away from doing these 10/22 barrels, I think their barrels are more traditional (which I like) but that might not match demands with all the newer stuff out there.
Will experience what a Shaw barrel can do here eventually. Like GM, I read some good, some bad on Shaw as well. Glad I got my GM 20" SS Sporter barrel when I did. I also have a GM 18" blued bull that was used for a bit and removed to try a summit CF barrel, was thinking about parting with it, but maybe not now! I guess I'm part of the problem, I wanted a CF barrel too!

I ran across an interview back in March with the owner of Green Mountain, and one of his comments was that 90% of their business was to industry customers. Not surprised their retail side may have some availability issues if their focus is on contract sales. I guess we hope the barrels we're looking for get back into the production schedule.

I suppose there are many agreements among barrel makers, but I can attest that Green Mountain most assuredly makes barrels up in northern New Hampshire. Coincidentally, though not a 10/22 barrel, I just bought a .17 tapered octagon barrel blank from GM just last week. I have had uniformly great results with the GM barrels I have owned, though they were all blanks; no drop-in barrels. They are properly stress relieved, button-rifled barrels that machine crisply and predicably. Interestingly, the Lothar Walther barrel blanks I've machined, like the ones Kidd, VQ, and Clark use, are quite hard to machine...nice barrels but a pain to machine. I don't think being harder is necessarily better on rifle barrels.

Update from T/C on why they bought Green Mountain. My interpretation on what that means for Green Mountain in-house barrel sales is that the more successful T/C is, the less likely they'll be selling 10-22 barrels retail. As more of their production shifts to their owners barrel needs, less production capacity for everything else they do.
