I'm Finally Happy, I Think....

I think I found the right combo this time!!

Last fall when I passed "Heidi" on to Devan and did his rebuild, I gave him a few parts off the S&K build. I sold that pretty stock and GM fluted barrel, because it was too nice for me to hunt with and I never did anything besides look at it and rub on it once in a while. So most of the winter the receiver and action sat around on the bench, in pieces. Now I had a decision to make, either reconfigure this action, to hunt with, or build an "Ultimate"! Now in this there is more. I bought a CZ American to hunt with a while back. I ain't feelin' it! I like to hunt with my 10/22!! So I dug the Barrel Rico named Fatso Jr. out of the safe, got a B&C stock, and started the process of piecing this thing back together. So here she is....unnamed but ready for a sight in day and go kill a few tree rats! What do you guys think? I'm diggin' it!

1976 receiver
Que bolt
KIDD charging handle, and TG pins
Swampfox TG
Shooter35 mag release & bolt buffer(orange)
GMHT barrel from Ricochet, know from his Fatso Jr. build
Weaver two piece bases
Burris Sig. ZEE rings
Intensity Optics 6.5-20 scope
R/T adjustable V-block
B&C stock

Nice Chromie, I really like that build.:bthumb: Those stocks can take a beating and still look brand new. I've had one on a .308 for a few years not a mark on it. Looks like you built a great hunting rig Chromie!

Sorry I missed your call buddy. I was under the car I think. Another nice rifle from one of SuperStock's longest running members. It is SO NICE to see you posting here again!

We'll get the call together. I finally got the brakes working on my car.

Now I have to figure out how to fix a broken shifter on an automatic trans Cavalier so my wife can drive her self to work.

Was the weirdest thing to be driving her car and no matter where I put the shifter handle it would only go backward.:eek::( Figured out what it was and limped home after burning the crap out of my arms trying to move the selector under the engine. I hate this stuff.

Anyway Sorry for the missed call and so happy to have you back.:bthumb:;):D

cold weather ammo, on a 84* day...

right on Vincent!!

I ran out of elevation, and ran into a clearance problem with the Intensity yesterday, which ended my range trip in about 5 minutes. So, I got out to shoot for a bit today, with the APV mounted back up. After shooting the last 3 boxes of what is very possibly the worst lot of Wolf MT, I have ever had. I decided to scrap the testing and shoot a few groups with the thing, as is. I think we have a decent ammo for this thing, it is just a shame I only have 6 boxes of this lot left. Anyway, I think this one has some potential.

something else I noticed today. I have always shot groups with my action screw sitting right on the bag of the front rest, and felt like I had the best luck this way. Not this rig. It likes to have the rest way out on the tip. I had a lot better groups this way, with no forward pressure on the stop either. kinda puzzling to me, as this is way different than the norm on my rigs.

I snapped a little better picture today. I think I like it better with the APV. It sure is easier to find a squirrel in this scope.

yesterday I bedded it with the good ol' JB weld. I know I said I wasn't gonna bed this one, but I just get bored when it rains.

OK I finally got a chance to shoot this thing after the bedding experiment. I'll go into that more when I have more results to share.

Anyway, I got away for about an hour this afternoon. I intended on some action screw torque testing, a 25 USBR or 2, and a go at the 100 yd MOA game. The rain set back in before the 100er got going good, but I was able to muster up a 246-5x's on the USBR. In which I believe to be my personal best at this point. So I'm pretty amped up this evening, and to top it all off squirrel season opens tomorrow in MO with a new limit of 10 tree rats!!...:D

thanks for the compliments fellas! I tried to better my score for the month today, but way too many people around for that, so I just tried to go for the 13mm funner, no dice there either....I had a good time, but my shooting was not there today...

man it is almost 3, the rain just started, and may set in for the day, those dang tree rats may live another day. There are so many squirrels and so few squirrel hunters these days, Missouri Conservation dept. has upped the daily limit from 6 to 10 this year. So now a box of Wolf MT or CCI SV will only last 5 days...:D
