My last post was tongue in cheek however in type written text, they may or DO come across as a little too....I am going to use the word flamboyant rather than aggressive.

I am a Henry Fanboy. They have treated me well and have gone above and beyond in customer service. However, if a rifle constantly has issues, no matter how good the warranty, it can get frustrating to say the least. A gun in the hand that shoots, rather than is constantly in the mail getting fixed, is worth more ... yes I believe that too. I have been fortunate that my issues were fixed with a one time repair, rather than some that take several. Anyway, this post is to tone down my rhetoric and not sound like a commercial. I love CZ's, Remingtons, and Marlin's also. I just love .22 cal. guns. Its that simple.

EDIT 06/07/2025: Folks, I apologize to any that were offended by my first post. I have asked the Moderators to delete it, however they did already edit out the language that I used, really in jest, not in trying to start a heated discussion. I have also edited the title of this post to reflect the real intent of both of my posts. I love this forum and do not want to jeopardize my involvement and membership. Thank you to the moderators that keep us sane!

I'm there with you. 22s are just great. How much of the current Henry's are still based on the Ithaca-72 and then Erma 72 or whatever it was called? I guess I don't know what your last post was about, but getting a gun that let's face it, is quite simple and try to shoot it and it doesn't work- it's frustrating.

I dont have much experience with Henry's customer service. As a matter of fact I looked down on their 22's because of the material choices. I have had some inexpensive 22 pistols made of much the same that gave me lots of trouble. That said I bought a 20 year old Golden Boy I saw in a shop for small money because it was scratched on the gold finish. I put a tang peep sight and leather cheek riser on it and it has become my favorite plinker. My only complaint is the ammo tube is too short, I keep running out of ammo. I am amazed at how smooth the action is and how accurate the rifle is. I dont know how many rounds went through it before I got it but I have put 4k-5k through it in the last 18 mos with no issues.

Will it ever become an Heirloom collectable, not if past experience is any indication of the future. But as long as Henry is still in business it will provide many hours of enjoyment. What more can you really ask.

Indeed.

In my book, if a company is family owned, US based and offers a lifetime warranty, they are starting with a ten point "lead" if I need to deal with customer service. But Henry doesn't need it.

Sadly, I have dealt with manufacturers, banks, car dealers and contractors who could all learn A LOT from how Henry does business.

Keep up the good work, Mr. Imperato! (y)

I have an LBF Henry. Right out of the box it's action was much smoother than my Marlin 39's and it balanced better. Trigger was about the same and accuracy a little better so I sold the Marlin to a chicken shooter that was looking for one. My one complaint is the crud finish Henry uses on their wood. Mine has nice tiger striped wood that you can only see in bright sunlight and not very well at that. As to the material they are made from it has long proved that it is perfectly adequate for a 22, rifle or handgun. All I know of Henry's service is hearsay as I have never needed it.

I should refinish the wood this summer. No use in having nice wood that you can't see well enough to appreciate. I have been intending to do just that ever since I bought it so maybe this year.

I am a MAJOR fan of Henry the company. I had an AR-7 which is a fun non-serious shooter. It's never going to be a competition gun and isn't meant to be. It's meant to be a very useful and convenient shooter and it absolutely is. My AR-7 was striking light with FTFire now and then with 2 different ammos. I contacted Henry who furnished a UPS label. I sent it and after about 4 weeks got curious. Called Henry and was told they never received it. Tracking showed it received at my local UPS store and leaving. Received at the local hub and leaving. Then nothing. A couple days later Henry notified me the rifle couldn't be found and they had sent a replacement to me. At no cost to me. They didn't lose it, UPS did. They weren't responsible but they took responsibility and sent a replacement. That is CS above and beyond. On the 1-10 Henry is an 11 in my book.

You're forgiven - now, say two Hail Mary's and buy another Henry as a penance...... ;)
