I’m really interested in the Howa 1100 walnut hunter rifle. I have the polymer stocked model, and its flexy to a fault. I’m also reading about feeding issues. My rifle is serial number 53, so its very early production. I have not had feeding issues. I would like to know what the walnut stocked models look like. Any one have one to post pictures of ? If so, I would highly appreciate it. Thanks !

It is easy to flex the stock. If I can get the butt stock to flex easily with a little side pressure, I start looking for a more rigid stock. The polymer is so flexible, I am afraid to tighten the action screws enough to try to get the barreled action stable, and stationary. When shooting it, the point of impact can change. Your experience may vary.

Mine is serial #56 and of synthetic stock rifles found it to much more stout than the T1X I could have chose over it. A little dine file work on the front of magazine opening as well as mold lines in magazines and it feeds flawlessly. I agree that manuals torque specs are impossible without pillar’s for action screws. I machined pillars and epoxied them in place as well as a little additional epoxy bedding with epoxy aluminum powder matrix, also poured a layer in forearm as I use a Picatinny rail for bipod.
Trigger spring fiddling and I have an excellent 7oz trigger with 2oz first stage. It will hold its own with a good lot of Eley Outlaw Benchrest against my 452V and Lapua Midas. Out of the box was shooting sub MOA at 100 yards with the Nikko scope it come with. I can’t complain!

My inclination is that Howa can, and will, produce a very nice complete rifle if someone else hands them the specifications to do so. Legacy Sports seems incapable on that front. I remember going into a store called Cabela’s in Post Falls and seeing 22-250 Varmint weight rifles with 20 inch barrels On them. They sat there for months with no interest in them and the price was practically give away. As a basis for a custom rifle they have some barreled actions that I would be interested in, way more that I would never use the barrel.
