How late do groundhogs stay out at night?

This may sound dumb, but how late do groundhogs stay out. I've hunted them for years and normally spot them in early morning or late afternoon well before dusk. Since sunset is 9 p.m., how late do you see them in the field?

Chucks [groundhogs] retire shortly after sunset, and definitely before dark...! !

They are not nocturnal animals, like rabbits and skunks...! !

I dont think there is more than a 1/2hr window in my time zone when the Simpsons arnt on.........Good think we're into summer re-runs

I agree. I never spotted a 'chuck after dark. Usually by dusk they're in their holes going "night-night."

I just saw one wandering around at 7:15PM in my front yard. they know my neighbors are home and are safe until the next day.
