How can I remove water stains on a wood stock.

I dented this classic Beeman R1 Beech stock so I tried steaming out the dents. I now have water stains that I can't get out. I've tried drying it in the sun and using hairdryer. I friend who had a furniture repair business suggested spraying it with hairspray. He said that the alcohol and propellant would permeate the finish and draw out the water. It seemed to work a little bit and stopped.

I believe these stocks were finished with sprayed tinted clears because beech doesn't take traditional stains well.

The current condition of the stock greatly degrades the value of the gun to me and others. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The stains don't show up well in pictures. They look much worse in person.

Thanks in advance

Don't use that Minwax Tung Oil "Finish" on your Beeman R1 as it is a "Finish" and not "just an oil". After that finish dries it leaves a tough Resin behind. Heck, there's even Hydrocarbons in it which might loosen the finish on your Beeman. That Minwax product is for projects from start to finish/end, applying it layer (drying) upon layer (drying) over itself.

Yup, it's the oil that did the trick with Mayonnaise. Note: Mayonnaise also contains egg and the egg may not be needed? Salad dressing doesn't contain egg. Also, if you don't want to purchase any, say, Lemon Oil then use Vegetable Oil which is probably in your cupboard, although vegetable oil may dry tacky if not rubbed off. I use vegetable oil for wooden knife and or utensil handles (apply heavily, allow the wood to soak up the oil, re-apply if necessary, and after a minute or two, wipe off the excess) and it keeps them in great condition. I apply it every few years.
