A ten round magazine for a Viper is HIGH CAPACITY, I have never known one to shoot more than two or three times in a row-and if so it is a collector edition that needs to be sold back to Remington.

Even the standard 10 round magazines are worth as much or more than the rifle, so Remingtons fix for the notoriously unreliable 522 Viper was to remove the front sight and drop in a new 597 under it!

O'course, my 522 will consistantly fire nine in a row as long as I don't try to load 10 rounds in the magazine! That's as good as my 597's mags perform. Except for the fact that it shoots all over the place, it functions fine!

Mine must have been specially made for a Remington employee, or exec!

Had mine for many years, never had a jam, I would like a higher capacity mag.

I've had a 522 for a very long time... bought it new. I have the original metal magazine and two polymer mags, and all fire perfectly. The only time I've ever had a stoppage is when I tried to shoot Stingers in it... unburned powder filled the action with grit, and had to be well cleaned. With any other .22LR it works very well, and with a scope it's surprisingly accurate.

I bought one new in 1993 I think. I don't even know how many thousands of rounds its fired. When I was a teenager me and a couple friends used to go the local dump and shoot anything that would bust, break, or looked like it needed holes in it. Mine would jam when it got real dirty as well. Still got it, and actually just did a thourough cleaning on it a couple weeks ago. I've always wondered if those metal mags would work in a 581 with a different or modified follower, but have never tried it.

Actually, now that I posted that, I wonder if the metal mags from the Nylon77 would work in the Viper. I've got one, I'll try it and see if I remember next time I get it out.
