Interesting idea, did you have a part number? All my Henry's have the hex barrel. I have a evil Roy in 22 mag, and 2 frontier in 22 and 17 hmr.

 

Not at the moment waiting til pay day and I'm going to call Henry and just order them, I'm confident I can make it work enough for me. Like the idea of a Golden Boy type mares leg but the 7-800 dollars for the centerfire version is a bit much for me right now.

 

im no gunsmith , but my little messin with these makes me think you can make it work , im not going here - never wanted that short rifle for anything , but i see where you are going with it and i would love to see photos when done because im interested in how it works out , ,

 

From looking at the Henry web site, it says the .22 mare's leg is a "modified variation of the model H001 Henry Lever Action" and the .22WMR flavor is listed as model H001MML. The receiver cover from the Golden Boy (H003) won't fit this application. Maybe you can get lucky and post a WTB on the trading post for one of the brass-lite H001 covers/barrel band sets Henry sold a few years back.

 

You would be correct that the H003 won't interchange with the H001 however the Golden Boy is model H004 which WILL interchange with H001. The model H003 is the pump rifle with the hex barrel.

The "stock drop" (the angle of the receiver tangs) is the problem. Since the Mare's Leg .22LR/ .22 Magnum handguns are based on the H001-series of rifles, and the Golden Boy has a totally different stock drop than the H001-series rifle, I would say that the Golden Boy receiver cover will NOT fit your Magnum handgun.
