oldtimers

If it's the one I'm thinking of it was a nine shot revolver from back in the 60s or 70s. But Dahling , you can't mean that old thing. It's not even a piece of art. All it does is what it was designed to do. It's nothing more than a mere (shudder) tool. It's tough when things that old seem like yesterday.

H&R 949

I bought one of the 949 years ago in magnum version because i wanted a cheap ranch gun to carry and not worry about. After a couple of cylinders i really grew an affection for it. Stiff trigger to be sure, but above average accuracy.
About a year ago i had cleaned it as usual and put it in the safe. The next time i checked it the hammer would not cock. after taking it apart at least 40 times and putting it back together and not finding anything i finally broke down and took it to a gunsmith i knew. two weeks later he gave it back and said don't ever bring me one of these again! i am glad he charged me $5 for a spring and pawl and not for his time :)
still have it, won't part with it.

All of these guns are a good value for money spent. The main problem is the proper bend in the hand spring. This is the main bad point in these revolvers and at times can really be a pain to repair. Different models have different bends to the spring system and when I get one to work properly, I make a diagram of it for future use. The other weak link is the cyl spring lock. Keep it clean and oiled (the entire gun) as there are no more of these springs around.
