when my new grandson was born I went looking for a 22 cal revolver before he went home. Finding a colt or s&w 22 revolver was tough for a decent cost. I found him a nice s&w k22/6" masterpiece target that had dried reddish oil the PO called rust, came right off, such a deal.

Now that got my attention on looking at rimfire turn of the century single shot and pump rifles. During my searches the H&R 22 revolvers started showing up. Nothing wrong with more 22 revolvers. I know I can buy new heritage revolvers buy I like the history too. I have another h&r premier 22 revolver not pictured yet, the shines revolver in the pic was yellloish the PO thought was nickel. After a good polishing it's chrome.
Enjoy the pics, if you want to add anything please do.

Good taste! One of my "bucket list" firearms is an H&R Sportsman Top-Break like the one on the left. Such a beautiful and unique piece, as long as the grips are right.
I've also recently gotten interested in those old .22 pump gallery-type guns. Maybe I can find an old Win 61 to work on..
I really do love those older, wood and steel firearms, their quality and their histories. Most were enjoyed on beautiful days during beautiful times. I get a real sense of connection just holding them.

I would say that $199 is a decent price if the 649 is in good working order. Though having the 22WMR cylinder with it would be nice.

I have a H&R 949 and love it. The 949 is basically the same as the 649 but with a 9 shot cylinder. Too bad the 649 22WMR cylinders won't work with the 949 as a direct drop in swap.

On some of the gun for sale auctions/sights there priced much higher. I’d say $100 is ok but make an offer and haggle.

Here’s my h&r premier 22 cal 1895 patent date.

Here's my 649:

It was my first handgun purchase and was my only 22 for many years. Other than being very slow to reload, it's been a very fun gun to own. Since I've added a bunch of other (faster to load) 22lr to my stable, I just keep the WMR cylinder installed. It's still my only 22mag (so far), and I'll pack it if I'm hiking an area with coyotes in abundance.

A few H&R .22 pistols...

Also have the long barreled model with .22lr cylinder and the .22wmr from this one seems to time well, haven't shot either one.
A rough 999...

Some of the cleaner ones are starting to bring pretty good prices.

Not sure what it is. I purchased them and put them in the safe. I found one more.

The shiney one from the left was yellow looking thinking it was nickel. But after cleaning it she’s chrome plated from the factory.

These can run $100 to $400 depending on what model. The new heritage 22 revolvers run $200.

My very first 22 is an H&R 999 Sportsman (1940 vintage) with a holster.
Based on its worn condition, patina, and scratches ... looked as if being someone's pest control.

Was a "second generation hand-me-down"... because the previous owner didn't know how to access the cylinder. Once I showed them how... was told to keep it.:bthumb::bthumb::bthumb:
(I couldn't agree to that offer...)
