You might check the locking bolts on the barrel. These sometimes need polishing and on the original G1 pistols, the locking bolts were one piece. On the newer barrels the locking bolts are two piece. If you have a barrel that fits and works, you can try switching the locking bolts to the barrel that is giving you problems and see if that works. I agree Mike Bellum is one of the Contender experts! Probably the locking bolt needing attention or changing to the split bolt.

I had a similar problem light fireing not striking the primer hard enough to fire took it to a gun smith he had it for three months never did get it fixed I finally just parted it out. Wish I had sent it to Bellem now

 

Did you resolve the issue?

 

The solid bolt is the problem.
I have four TC barrels that had solid bolts when first made.
When TC (Not S&W) was in business, I called them and four new split bolts were sent.
I had another problem with my SS .223 barrel extractor.
TC sent me three of those.
