Forgot how good this Victory is

Bought a threaded barrel Victory back in 2018 (I think?). Put a few thousand trouble free rounds through it. Got more into rifles for some time, so my youngest son put to use. He got one of his own last week, so offered to clean it & bring it back. Told him not to bother cleaning since I don't mind doing it.
Broke it down & it was pretty filthy (he warned me)! Asked him if it was giving him any trouble & he said none. Asked how many rounds since it was cleaned & his S.W.A.G. was "at least 700".
Got her cleaned up & ready for the range. Bought a suppressor during the years my son had it, so I took the Sparrow off it's T1x host & screwed it on.
Put 100 rounds of CCI SV through it, not a "failure to ---" to be had.

Almost forgot how reliable it's been, & how good the trigger was out of the box (2.8 lbs & clean). Have owned each of it's two main competitors, & couldn't say one or both of those things about the examples I had. Not giving S&W a free pass, have seen enough threads here at RFC to know not every pistol out the door is excellent. But mine has earned its praise.

And I think also earned some new bling:
  • Ordered some G10 grip panels.
  • Ordered a TK trigger. Just the trigger since I'm not looking to drastically drop pull weight or get rid of creep. But do tend to have less horizontal dispersion with pistols that have a flat faced trigger.

Researching dot sights, & hoping this is where the hive can help a little. Pretty much settled on a Holosun 407C green dot, but could use some advice on the mounting plate. Eyeballing this one, since it specifically calls out compatibility with the Holosun I want, & even comes in blue to match the new G10 grips. But open to any and all suggestions.

I think you will find that the TK trigger will actually improve the trigger pull, I know mine did. I also added G10 grips with thumb rest and a TK halo and then I ordered the TK captured recoil spring and that makes taking the pistol down for cleaning better yet. One other thing I did was add a DIP Products over-sized take-down screw and like it as well.

Appreciate the replies gentlemen!

@wproct - I did order one of the captured recoil spring assemblies. No problems with the factory setup, but good to have a spare & if it makes reassembly a bit easier, all the better. Got spares for some other wear/maintenance items while at it- various springs, extractor etc.

Great collection @ajole! See now that "SW22" doesn't narrow it down as much as I thought, will edit the title.

@gmd1950, do you mostly shoot that one suppressed? The only non-suppressed shots fired from my T1x since the Sparrow arrived were to assess any differences in POI (slight) and accuracy at 100y (none). Have to do the same for the Victory, though early returns seem good. Might scheme a way to add a few ounces to the grip area in order to get a better balance, a little nose heavy. Or -eventually - get another, slightly lighter suppressor dedicated to the pistol.

A little torn on a sighting setup. Dots bloom like wildflowers with my astigmatism (even corrected; more than one doc has told me it can't be completely corrected with lenses). Factory sights are very good, but with my progressive prescription, have to lean my head way back to get a crisp front. Guess I could get a pair made specifically for shooting. 2x scope is another option, but bulky. A long eye relief prism close to the footprint of a typical dot sight would be ideal, but I know of no such beast.

Noticed that while looking through all the options at a few LGS. In general- lower settings better than higher settings, smaller dot better than bigger dot, & green dot better than red dot.
Target acquisition speed isn't a concern for how I'll use this pistol, so no real penalty for going with a smaller, less intense green dot.
I'm with you on the threaded thing (y)

My Victory only ever had one hiccup since purchased. On the first or second magazine, the magazine retention spring failed. It was out and back to the mothership within a week and they included a free magazine on return. My only additions have been the TK halo, and now TK Game Changer compensator. I have a Burris Fastfire 3 on mine. Love the setup. It is super reliable and fun to shoot. For pure accuracy, I think my 22A is slightly better but mostly because the trigger is slightly better. But I rely on my Victory of Steel Challenge/league, etc.

I picked up the Tandemkross repair kit for the Victory just in case. When I got my 22A I loaded up on new and used parts for it from eBay and elsewhere. The one big disappointment with S&W is their lack of support for older models. The 22A (and 22S) seem like they are super popular. You'd think they'd at least make some runs of magazines for them now and again.

She's looking good with the new jewelry on.
Trigger install was a bit fiddly but not all that bad, only a little cussing involved. Like the pre- and over-travel adjustments, really makes for a nice reset. Still crisp, and weight dropped to 1.9 lbs. Definitely no itch to get the TK hammer, I don't want it any lower than this.
The Holosun is a nice unit, seems well made. Do prefer the green to red. The dot still looks truly awful at the higher intensity settings, but is reasonably precise at the two or three lowest settings. Not a knock on Holosun- dot sights are never going to be a great solution for me, at least with the current tech. But I do think I like it better than getting special glasses made for using irons, or resorting to a bulky scope.
When the toy fund is replenished, may get another quiet-downer-inator dedicated to the pistol, & leave this one on the T1x. It sounds good to me on the Victory, but those who have a bunch of them seem to agree there are better options for dedicating to a pistol.

That is a very nice set-up. I really like some color on my handguns and those blue G-10 grips and sight mount really makes yours look nice in my opinion.
