John Reed's magazines are still being made by him and easy to get ahold of so that may answer your question.

 

John Reed magazines are all that. John Reed is a straight shooter as well.

 

Trekker magazines are a viable option, good product.

I don’t have any Trekker or DAC but have a couple of John Reed’s magazines. They are steel and work flawlessly.

 

ANYTHING is better than the OEM magazines. The only question is do you want a metal magazine (Reed) or a better plastic magazine (Trekker). I went with Reed. I wasn't aware of the DAC magazines.

 

I'm in the steel magazine column but we all moan and groan over the plastic Remington magazine and when I think back on the Rem. mags, I never ever had a problem with them. And look how long they have lasted.
I do like the Trekkers, they seem to work very well also.

 

I have bought maybe 12-15 used originals off Ebay or when buying a few used 581's with an extra mag or two. It is a toss up if they are good or not. 4 or 5 have been broken. Most common problem is cracked and split seams at the top front where the bullets feed. I shot allot of silhouette matches in the old days with a 541T and I don't recall ever breaking a magazine myself. 591 5mm mags are even more prone the split seams.
