cz452,453 dovetail vs 457 dovetail

OK, I got my new 457 early and of course the next order of business is optics, which obviously require mount/rings. Im looking at Talley for rings because this type of firearm would look just horrible with any picatinny rail stuck on it whereas a simple scope/rings will give it that classic look to it.

Looking at Talleys site they have some different rings for the different cz models in different heights, the 452/453 rings come in .350" and .500" I think it was and if Ive done my math correctly one of the 452/453 ring sets will put my scope on the 457 with minimal clearance.

But, are the 452/453 dovetails the same? I know theyre both an 11mm dovetail but is the base of the rings the same shape, if they have any shape? I dont know much about these cz rifles because this is my first one. Granted if I did just mount a pic rail on my rifle I would have any concerns and could use any ring of appropriate height but I dont want to do that.

So to anyone familiar with the Talley cz rings, would the 453/452 rings mount on the 457 receiver CORRECTLY?

Be careful, heres a chart. Fyi the 3/8 ths are wider than the 11 mm cause they measure those inside cut to inside cut and the 11 mm outside cut to outside cut.
As for the cut angle on the gun vs on the rings, sorry , i dont know. Lots of folks use and Love the Talley Rings. Buy them from Amazon , easy to return.
Me , I like the BKL rings. But I also use a rail on some CZ s, they dont awful.

Don't know if this will help you or not. Measure the top of the dovetail, if it's about .500 then it should be 3/8" and if it measures about .430" then it should be 11MM. The 452 and 453 rifles dovetails varied by caliber and the rifles version (American, Lux, Varmint, ect.), The 452 Full Stocks used 11mm in 22 L.R. but 3/8 in 17 HMR and 22 magnum. Supposedly all the 455 and 457's are 11mm dovetails but I haven't a 457 so can't really comment on them.

I felt the same way about the Pic rail. They look great/intentional on ARs but it didn't seem like good fit on the 457, maybe the precision chassis but not the traditional stock. Anyway I ended up using Morr's rings, they did require a good bit lapping though. For a precision part it seems a bit to rough to scratch up a new scope. https://www.morraccuracy.com/store/p1/The_Legacy.html

I used BKL medium height with my 452 Ultra Lux. They fit well, were sturdy, and were the right height for my scope to clear the rear sight. I have Burris rings on a 455FS, again, a very good ring with a clamping piece appropriate for the 455 dovetail. In other words-- there is not one ring to rule them all in this topic. Enjoy the hunt!

I make the rings that TeeterTotter linked to.

It seems most of the ring manufacturers gloss over the 3/8" vs 11mm dovetail difference and make a one size fits all ring. The 3/8" dovetails are 45 degree dovetails and 11mm use 60 degree. These one size fit all approaches do work and so will $5 chicom rings but it's not a good mate with at least one or the other dovetail. Can't mate well with both.

As far as I know my 3/8" dovetail rings are the only ones made just for the cz 452 American. I have also found that there really isn't any standard for 3/8" dovetails. As i said, my rings are made to fit the 452 American and I have tried them on a Remington 580 action, which also has a 3/8" dovetail and they don't fit at all to my satisfaction.

I'm a huge CZ/Anschutz fan. I got into making rings because most of what I had tried over the years, and I tried most of all the rings people talk about here, were not up to quality of these rifles.

Wow! Thanks for all the posts. Hit a snag with my allowance for gun parts, someone else got it.😡

Im back on track now, and still on the hunt for rings, and now a scope.

Its awesome to hear from a product maker here about their product. Youre bound to get the best info about that product. Im definitely going to be looking into your rings pdeal and may have some questions, maybe not. You say theyre made to fit the 453 but how does this translate to the 457 series? This is my first CZ rifle so Im a newb here, but definitely not to guns, been shooting for 42 years.
Theyre good looking rings I can see that and made right here means something to me so you get a big nod from me sir. As soon as I nail down my scope choice Ill get back to you. Better here or ebay or does it matter?
