I have a CZ Varmint .22LR. It has developed a reluctance to expel the empty cartridge cases, it seems do it half heartedly. I want to remove and clean the extractors. Can remove the extractors by removing the black circlip that is around the bolt? or have I to strip the bolt completely i.e. by removing the safety etc. Thanks

While you have them out they are a stamped steel part. Check the edges along the sides for burrs, if you find any use some fine emery cloth or fine sand paper and remove the burrs along the body of the holder & extractor.

Extractor/ ejector / spring kit

I reading your occasional problem with CZ ZKM .22LR ejector/extractor.
I'm almost exclusively in Brno rifles and with several thousands imported and sold I never hear this problem from my Brno customers ?? Maybe I missing something.. But I was approached while back by few Forum members ..can't remeber names ..one was "Crowshooter" and they described this problem with CZ ZKM 452 rifles. I supplied them Brno made parts ejector/extractor/spring made more than 50 years back... but no feedback..It will be interesting to know how replaced Brno made parts workrd in CZ's..and where problem may be... CZ tolerances , slight design change, occasional manufacturing anomaly
manufacturing process change ??
Thanks for response

I bought a Trainer that had some problems extracting shells, it also did not lock very nicely. I looked closely and there was all this gunk in the bolt and on the extractors. I took the bolt apart (read your manual) and cleaned it and that fixed the problem.

Also, the clip that holds the extractors on can be difficult to put back on. I used the pit of an awl to accomplish that.

452 extractor problems

I am also having problems w/ a trainer 452, It does not extract , I cleaned the bore good. Next I will take the bolt apart and clean that as well as inspect and sharpen the extractors if needed. I would like to know where to buy new extractors for this cz-452 trainer? I read about VO extracors but they wern't talking about the 452. Does VO have extractors for the cz 452 as well

Oh yeah, welcome to the CZ/Brno ward, forgot my manners.:bthumb:

My 455 was unreliable in extracting - I found a metal chip beneath the extractor when I removed the circlip. Apparently this design may be sensitive to dirt or other material accumulating under the extractors.

I've only had two CZ's that were finicky about extraction of fired cases, the Style I purchased used and now my 455 American, the Style only does it with Wolf MT and darned if the 455 isn't doing the same.:( I pulled the extractor and holder off the 455 the other day and cleaned, filed the inside edge (toward the bolt body) a bit and sharpened the angle of the hook without altering the length of it. Hopefully this will help, if not I'll give CZ a call and see what they say.

I basically cleaned up the 455's and reshaped it a bit to what Gizzy recommends (which by the way is pretty much what the original Brno's were), I'll likely go with a set of the Brno's if this doesn't work.

On my ejection challenged American I replaced the holder, extractor and spring with BRNO's from Denny. They worked maybe a little better, but it didn't fix the problem. Tried shimming the ejector with some .004 shim stock, and that helped a little, but still didn't fix the problem. I'm going to try a .008 shim and see what happens.
