Picked up a new to me CZ 457 with a Lilja barrel from a good friend who was going in another direction for a hobby, so I took it off his hands. He only shot steel with it so I didn't know quite what to expect accuracy wise. But I did get to shoot it a little the last time out as I was practicing with the VPT for our match today. I was able to shoot a few 10 shot groups, mostly to check the scope that I had just mounted, and to check function. I'm well pleased with this performance so far, as this was just some M+ and Pistol King that I had on hand to break it in with. What do you guys think? There was a pretty stiff wind coming in from R to L about 10 degrees NW. I dialed a little up after the first couple of groups, then settled there.

The above testing was done with an ARCA rail setup with a relatively inexpensive Harris (?) bipod and using a protektor rear bag. I've got so many bipods laying around anymore that it's hard to keep up with exactly which one I have on any particular rifle I'm testing at any given time. 😁

What distance are you shooting and what kind of front rest area you using?

I had a 24" Lilja and it shot well, My 24" CZ mtr barrel was better so I sold the lilja. The guy I sold it to is shooting in our competitions and doing well. The CZ barrel is just more consistant at longer ranges. Our matches are 75-300yds. Mine will do MOA or better with my lot tested Lapua LR ammo and the wind co-operating. Smallest target is 3/8" at 75yds. The gun is totally tricked out.

Seeing how this is my first dealing with a Lilja barrel, and the bolt closure, and especially bolt lift, were much tighter than optimal, I took it apart yesterday afternoon to check the headspace.

Tenon length - 1.1985"

Depth to bolt face off action face - 1.2365

Headspace at .038".

A little snug for Lapua ammo.

Apparently this rifle had been setup using Eley.

I have a shim kit enroute from Lance at Triggershims.com. I think a .004" shim will get me where I want to be. 👍🏼
