In 2013 approximately (50) CZ-453 Lux made it into the U.S.A .
Previous to this around 5 were known through transfers from Canada customs to make it here.
I bought 2 of the 50 knowing it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
These are the equal of an Anschutz with zero doubts.
My Walther KKM's which are purpose made target rifles struggled to beat these CZ's.
I have owned 14 or 15 CZ-452's all of which were accurate but could not hold up to these 453 Lux.
If your looking for the ultimate CZ find one of these but I guarantee few are selling.
Couple quick pics of what they look like and yes you can fire these normally or use the set trigger function.
I just bought 2 Tikka T1X and I would say the trigger on the CZ-453 Lux using the set trigger is better.
Sometime in the next few weeks I will put this rifle in a head to head against the Tikka T1X's. Will be interesting to see which wins.
Photos included since past 2013 photos are gone from the site.
CZ history some never knew about.

A number of CZ 453 Lux rifles were available in Canada about ten years ago. I bought one of them.

The biggest difference between the CZ 453 Lux and CZ 452 Lux was the single set trigger. But there was something else that also distinguished one from the other. That was the stock. While the CZ 453 American and CZ 453 Varmint stocks were outwardly similar to their 452 counterparts, the CZ 453 Lux stock was different from the 452 Lux.

The pistol grip on the 453 Lux was more vertical. Compare the 452 Lux (top) with the 453 Lux (next). While I've never seen a CZ centerfire rifle, I seem to recall that the CZ 453 Lux stock was said to be quite similar to the CZ 557 Lux stock.

The CZ 453 Lux also had a cheek piece, while the "regular" Lux did not. (See last image.)

Other than any advantage of a lighter trigger pull on the 453 (which could be equalled or nearly equalled by a spring change on the 452), there's no reason to believe the CZ 453 Lux was a better shooter than the CZ 452 Lux. Ammo selection aside, CZ rifle performance can be expected to depend largely on individual barrel quality.

earl9362, thanks for sharing photos of your GREAT find. With as few of that model that slipped in to the US it is truly remarkable that you would stumble on to one at your local gun shop. It was truly your lucky day!
From the photos it appears there are several handling marks on the stock. They should come out fairly easily if you ever decide to refinish it and show the beautiful grain in the wood that is covered up with that mud stain CZ uses.

I was going to sign off with “Best of Luck”, but you seem to be doing just fine! 😉
