Cricket Rifle Help - Red-Dot Scope?

Hello...

I have a cricket rifle and purchased the scope mount for it. It is not a weaver type mount.

Anyway I need some suggestions on a cheap red-dot scope for the rifle that will mount with the factory mount. My 6 year old is chomping at the bit to get out with her dad and try out her pink "mauser" as we call them.

Any help or suggestions would be most welcome!

Thanks!

Jeff,

I've got the same set-up,...originally for my son, but now my daughter's using it (painted pink though).

Tasco makes a red dot that works with rimfire grooves (which are the same as the Crickett scope mount...3/8"). The model# off of the tasco red dot is BKRD30/22. I bought it from Natchez shooters supply (800-251-7839) Think it was around $35.00/40.00? or so, Don't see it in the Natchez flyer so give them a buzz. It's OK for the purpose, but obviously not very high quality...my only ***** is the red dot can wash out if there is bright sunlight behind you.

Another possible option (I have not tried it), is to get one of the one inch (25mm) bodied red dots and use regular rimfire rings for it. You might query the scope forum (at RFC) to see if anyone has actually done this...or ask whichever red dot company's customer service, if one inch rings will work with their red dot.

No fault of the red dot...but Crickett's scope base sets the scope up to high for a proper cheek weld... we just deal with it...as their shooting greatly improved using a red dot vs iron sights.

For the iron sights; I glued a small fiber optic rod on the front sight post and drilled the rear sight aperture hole larger...and this also really helped their shooting...using the irons.

p.s. Just wanted to add that this red dot is large and dominates the rifle.
