I found a cooper rifle for sale, but it's a Mach-2.I'm not to thrilled about the caliber. If I get it for the right price do you think I can get the caliber changed to a different caliber. If so,which one?

Welcome.Nothing wrong with the 17m2.Great caliber, but the gun would have to be very cheap to consider a caliber change.I would imagine that it would be a minimum of 500 from Cooper.Barrel and labor.Everything else remains the same.(and the only possible change,is to 22lr.No other choice)
Buy a gun in the caliber that you want.

If you plan on target shooting don't buy the gun. If hunting is your preference I think the 17 Mach 2 is the best squirrel hunting caliber out there. I did an expensive conversion on a 10-22 years ago to the 17 Mach 2 not understanding some of the issues with the caliber. But after shooting it some I'm glad I did. In a Cooper it should be awesome. It is a terror as far as rimfires go. Get 5 or 6 bricks and use it to hunt with. Ammo is out there I've seen it for 100 a brick this year.

Like 'sicumj' said, the Mach 2 is the best squirrel rifle out there and it is an excellent short range prairie dog rifle too. So, I would keep it, if I were you. I was looking for a Cooper when I found my Anschitz 1502. Still searching for a Cooper 17 HMR. Would love to see a picture of your gun.
