Convert 93r17 to 17hm2?

Hello,

I have a 93r17 (e receiver) in 17mhr that has sat idle for many years. I had an idea for it, and I'm hoping some of the more knowledgeable members here could comment on its plausibility. As follows:

I'd cut down barrel from the breech end, and machine a new shank. Recut a 17 hm2 chamber, cut extractor grooves, headspace, etc, and reinstall the rechambered barrel.

That part of the process is fairly straightforward, it's just machining that I or my smith can do. The questions I have are mainly surrounding the other components:

Will I be able to use a 22lr magazine in the 93? If not, will the magazine holding assembly need to be replaced? I can't seem to find the outer dimensions of the magazines online. I presume I can use the existing bolt and ejector, since the case rim dimensions are identical.

I know this is impractical, I could buy a new MkII in 17hm2 and be fine, start from a blank, or patiently wait to find an HM2 barrel for sale. However, I like a project and the rifle has some sentimental value to me. TIA!
