Wizards in Ocala. I hear they do great work. Going to take my CZ 452 to them to thread the barrel.

 

Gemtech is the most expensive place I've ever talked to. Tornado Technologies is also very good. And Hoopers also.

 

Tornado Technologies doesn't do MK I II or III pistols anymore.
Hooperordnance.com is running 4-6 week lead time right now.
Pixley is running a 4 wk lead right now, my MKIII Hunter's on the way to him now for a seamless thread protector, relocate front sight and turn barrel down @ 0.024" to remove the warning billboard for @ $155.

I won't have a gun threaded by anyone but Jim Pixley. He does beautiful work, his turn around is reasonable (unlike MANY of the "big names") and it's reasonably priced. Great guy to deal with.

Jim Pixley got it back to me a week sooner than expected and he did beautiful work.
I screwed my SilencerCo Sparrow on just a few threads and had very minimal play, the protector seam disappears when installed, I had him remove the 'warning billboard' from the bottom of the barrel as well. Upon assembly and suppressor mounted I was smacking my steel plates at fifty yards, he got the front sight mounted just right as well. I couldn't be more pleased, he exceeded my expectations.

I don't mean to change the subject at all, but this thread got me thinking. On a stock 10/22 would it be better to have the barrel threaded, buy a different barrel, or just pay a bit more and buy a factory threaded rifle and keep the old one as a spare or project for later? I just plan on plinking and hunting.

 

I would either send your barrel in to be threaded or buy an aftermarket barrel with the correct threading. I bought a 10/22 with the factory threaded barrel and the flash hider and found out that they are threaded too long, .670" instead of .400" and even the spacers made for AR threads came up short

 

ADCO Firearms in Sylvania, Ohio do a great job at a reasonable price. Short Action Customs in Wellington, Ohio are the best I've worked with but are also the most expensive, although they get the bore indicated down to .0002" or less, and their work is impeccable.

Yes but in steel. Purchased one a year ago. Will search and try to find source.
For swapping should check with someone knowledgeable on TI's wear with
multiple swaps.

Eg.,"One inch extension adapter FEMALE 1/2x28 TPI to MALE 1/2x28 TPI + protector" on eBay.
