Coast-to-Coast Model 288N (Savage 87J)

Good day. First time poster on this forum.
I am trying to save a rifle for a good friend of mine. It is a Coast-to-Coast Model 288N which I believe to be a Savage 87J. It was his boyhood rifle, and it hasn't been fired in over 30 years. It cleaned up very nicely.
I was given the rifle because "It jams all the time. It probably just needs a good cleaning". After tearing it down and removing a lifetime of crud and gunk, I discovered that both extractors, extractor plungers, and extractor plunger springs were missing.
So here's where I need the Savage experts :
I can find the extractors at Gun Parts Corp., but no plungers or springs. It seems they aren't available anywhere. I can find in stock plungers and springs for other models of the 87 family, but not the 87J. My question is, will the plungers and springs for the other models of the 87 family work in the 87J ?

So this brings my to my next question.
I can find, all over the internet, the newer band type extractor bolts. Can this band extractor bolt replace the two-hook style extractor bolt that this rifle has ? I have read on other forums that it will work, and the next guy says it won't work. It seems to me the easiest fix here would be to just buy a replacement bolt with the band-type extractor, if that will work.
Any thoughts ?
Thanks
WB
