Hey Rimfire Family,

Anyone here with any direct comparison data, experience etc. with the new-ish Remington 40gr "Ranch hand" vs CCI 40gr Mini-Mag?.

Im a Mini-Mag Man. its the one load pretty much every .22 i have can agree on... but from what i've seen/heard The "Ranch Hand" seems like a nice load too, and a HUGE step up from what i've come to expect outta Remington .22 ammo..... It has a very similar bullet profile/design to the Mini-Mag aswell. I've seen the two compared to each other in a few posts/articles out there. but not much tested data...

.22 supply has stabilized quite a bit these days (thank goodness) but its nice to have alt's/options if/when supply run dry. Some of my other comparable alt's i use are the CCI "Tactical" (love it, just a mini-mag with a more round/blunt nose, actually more accurate/precise in a couple of my guns) and Winchester M-22... but the M-22 shoots to a different enough point of impact that it kept me from turning to that unless its all i can get (otherwise its excellent ammo).

I'm not fond of fussing with my sights or compensating, that said i had a friend say these Ranch Hands shot clean and dead on (same as the mini-mag, even at 50, 100 yards) in his rifle. that got my attention. Wondering if there is something to that or maybe thats just his gun or sheer luck... either way, Im going to order some and do some testing in my various guns soon, I will update with findings at a later date. In the meantime i wanted to start the convo and I am very curious what any others might have to say. Even if not the Ranch Hand, Any other loads any of you have discovered that match the Mini-Mag?

Thanks as always for your info, input, wisdom and kindness.

I've found that the RWS HVHP is very similar to the Mini-mag in performance, just greasier due to the lube the Europenan manufacturers use. I haven't tried the Ranch Hand ammo, most likely won't as I have several ammo cans full of Mini-mags.

Just a suggestion to the OP : If you would break up your text into 4 or 5 paragraphs it would be much easier to read than one big block of words.
