I’m in my first year of shooting SC 10 months exactly. I shot at least twice a month mostly 3 times. with practice I shot at least 8,000 rounds. I started with new TI receivers and Briley barrels.I built two rimfire rifles, RFRO and RFRI but have not shot the RFRI as much. It’s hard to keep mags loaded, seems like all my time is reloading mags. I did shoot both at the Area2 match one gun per day. Not many shooting RFRI, ended up winning C class RFRI.
Has any of you worn our a 10-22. For this year i’m starting with 15,000 rds going shoot more practice and more match maybe 24 to 35 matches this year.

Short answer……NO. At one time I owned three Browning Buckmarks handguns. Two were “left overs” from shooting IHMSA Silhouette and one was purchased as a back-up to the other ones. After several years of shooting high volume round counts for the silhouette I cut the barrels down from 10” to 6” and used them in three gun matches. Those two primary guns had over 300,000 rounds fired out of them and only required replacing one ejector, a couple recoil springs, and several plastic buffers. They shot as well the day I got rid of them as they did new. The two guys I sold them to are still shooting them.

Hmm, let's see.

1 match per week at 100 rounds. (Four stages, don't miss)
50 weeks a year = 5000 rounds.
5 years = 25000 rounds.

Not counting the odd 8 stage State match from time to time and a bunch of weird practice days.

So I'd say no, you're not going to use up that 10-22 barrel anytime soon.

Just started shooting RFPO with a build that was given to me by a couple of friends. One gave me the receiver and parts while the other donated a barrel and stock. The barrel has 40K rounds through it. He really shot a lot of matches, and it shows no signs of wear.

The trigger group is new and not many rounds but I replaced it with one from 15 years ago that I shot a lot. I figure I can give this gun to my granddaughter when she decides to try Steel Challenge.

The only things that typically wear out are various springs like the hammer spring, recoil spring, firing pin spring, and extractor spring. Add magazine springs in there somewhere as well. I've also occasionally had to replace a firing pin or extractor. Keep a 10/22 reasonably clean and regularly lubricated and they will last a long, long time.

We are very lucky down here in Florida and can shoot, literally, every day of the week in a match if we want to.
My local range, 18 minutes away, has Steel Challenge every Wednesday and a full match once a month. Rain outs are very seldom and there are no less than five available Steel Challenge matches within 90 minutes of me every week.
If I decide to take the motorcycle to the East coast for a full match with some friends over there, that’s available too.

So, getting that much shooting in is quite easy.

Toss in the Monday night IDPA 4-stage match and there’s plenty of time to work with the PCC too!

i did wear out one high standard pistol shooting bullseye. bought used with lord knows how many rounds through it, and it took over a quarter million rounds for me to wear it out, md I would say the 10/22 action is far more robust. If in 10 years you do succeed in wearing it out buy or build another. Or better yet, build a spare now and take both with you to the match. I have bailed out numerous shooters having a spare gun to loan them at a match after a breakage
