Cabela’s Sales Online

Notice that when used guns are for sale on widely known online sites, there are no shipping charges if the gun is shipped to your local Cabela’s store. That is a decent savings.

Wondering if the local Cabela’s charges an FFL fee to transfer the gun to me (as would any other FFL). If not, that would be another savings.

Anybexperience with this type purchase?

I have done this and it was very easy.
To purchase you need to call the store that has the gun and buy it over the phone. They will take your CC info and the total amount including your local taxes will be charged. Free shipping to your local Cabela's or Bass Pro who will call you when it arrives. Then it is simply the transfer process of your local laws at the store.

Very easy depends on your local store. Mine was a nightmare. Finally got action after getting ahold of the store manager. Received my refund a week later, about 3 months after ordering the rifle.

I don't think Cabelas has been the same since Bass Pro took over.

I used to buy several new & used firearms and almost all my ammo there. We have their card and would get member sales and regular sales and coupons all the time that would be really good deals.

Since the Bass Pro consolidation, I've bought one firearm (CZ457 wood lottery winner) and no ammo. We used to spend $30k a year on their card just to use the points. Now less than $1k a year.

No FFL fee and Free shipping when Cabelas ships store to store. But there maybe a $25 penalty at the managers discretion if you decline the gun. That is a world less hassle and expense over buying a defective gun on GunBroker. The big downside is prices are very high. If you are used to high prices, then it won't matter. On the plus side, I have seen occasions where a gun is big time or somewhat miss identified and priced too low. Usually, those mistakes or underprices sell before the listing goes online. You can also order a new gun online.

If a pile of milsurp Mosins or Brno imports come in you wont see those go online. No idea how they decide which guns are worth the effort to list online. I was also able to buy broken guns for $25 to $50 and those were some great deals. I dont know if they still do that. My point is a lot of guns will pass threw the library.

My recent experience with Cabela's used guns was for the Beretta in this thread:

I agree that their prices are generally high but decent deals do show up. They seem to be have wide ranges in pricing for the same item at different times.
An illustration of this is the Beretta 948 noted in the linked thread above. The same Cabela's store has another one listed in similar condition for $350 more than what I paid and it has only been a few months.

They currently have a couple of other guns listed that I am interested in and the prices are good when compared to what the same guns are typically selling for on GB.
The savings on shipping and transfer fees is worth it to me to check their site often for the next plinker.
