Has anyone had any experience using the BFF III on there Mark III?
Just can't see target using iron sights.
Thanks.

I have several different red dot scopes on different revolvers and pistols. I must admit that I'm still getting used to them but, I think for the $$ the Fast Fire III is a good buy. View isn't color tinted like some and it has a slight magnification. The only real way to see if they work for you is to try one out.

Buy it!!!

I'm 56 and my eyes aren't getting the job done with open sights through bifocals....

I put the FF III on a Mark III and haven't looked back since. ALL focusing is on the target ONLY and my scores have increased dramatically. I knew I would never go back to open sites on this one so I removed the front and rear sights for a much cleaner look. (I keep all original parts!)

Burris makes a nice, low-profile base for this sight too. In fact, when I bought mine, I was able to buy the FF III with no base then bought the low-profile base separately.

Obviously they work, but rail-mounted sights and forward-mounted sights just don't look right to me.

Good luck!

I have been playing with red dots on my 22/45 lite. I tried the TRS25 because I had one. It works but I have a hard time picking up the dot. I too have been looking at the FF3 and wondering what reticle. I am leaning towards 8 moa which is 2" at 25 yards but I worry it might be too coarse. I want to maintain back up sights so I installed Williams fiber optics. I dont think I would mess with the rear sight if I were doing it again but the front is great. Wait until you are shooting with 75 year old eyes before you complain too loudly.

Ragweeds.
FF3 using a burris mount, front/rear sights removed. 3 moa dot.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can use the ruger rail & buy a FF3 for a picatiny mount. That way you could keep your irons installed. (the rail mounts forward of the rear sight)
Naturally you couldn't USE the irons with the FF installed but they'd be there & sighted in if something broke.

I like the FF3 so much that I'm going to replace the Ultradot on my GP100 with one.

I have a FFIII. Don't think much of it. It's not 1x, but something like 1.07 which is particularly distracting when moving across multiple targets. The MicroDots like Bushnell TRS25 and PrimaryArms or Aimpoint are much better for practical use, IMO. The FFIII is lighter and smaller, and it doesn't suffer the grey/green tint as much.

Mark III and 22/45.

I much prefer a mini reflex sight to a mini red dot on a pistol. For me, they are far quicker to pick up the dot with. I have a Trijicon RMR, a Deltapoint, a Fast Fire III and two different Primary Arms mini reflex sights. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but I honestly think the FFIII may be the best suited for a 22 fun gun.
The Delta has far and away the best glass (ZERO distortion and no tint) and I love the 7MOA triangle. The wide window/lense seems bigger than it is too. But....The adjustment screws are tiny and require a very small Torx driver, making zeroing tedious. Also, the sight has to be removed to change the battery.
The RMR has a ruggedness that is super confidence inspiring and has great adjustment screws that make zeroing easy. The glass has a fair bit of distortion and the tint is pronounced though. This one also has to be removed to access the battery.
The FFIII has glass that's between the Deltapoint and the RMR in terms of clarity, has great click adjustments, a battery that accessed from the top, and a price that's half of the other two. It's not as rugged as the other two, nor does it as finely crafted.
I do know that glass quality shouldn't factor as high as it does for me, but to tell the truth, I haven't been able to fully train myself to NOT look through the glass. The thin-ish lense frame and big clear glass of the Deltapoint actually make it easier to do what you're supposed to do and transpose the "dot" onto the target with both eyes open. The very thin frame around the FFIII's helps with this too, but when you do inevitably look THROUGH it, the tint and distortion aren't nearly as distracting as with the RMR. I'll also add that having the sight mounted more forward on the gun helps me pick up the dot faster. I noticed this with my 2211 that had the Deltapoint fully rearward. After shooting my 22/45 that has the FFIII mounted over the ejection port, I ditched the custom mount on the 2211 and moved the sight forward and as low as possible. It's much better for me now.
