Buckmark Camper UFX Grips ??

Which grips fit which Browning Buckmark? I just purchased a Browning Buckmark UFX with the grey and black rubber grips. I would like to replace them with something in wood that looks a little richer. The problem is there are several different versions of this pistol, and I don't want to end up purchasing the wrong ones that don't fit my model. There are early and late model frames. Finger grooves, and no finger groove frames, etc.

Can anyone who has experience with these pistols, point me in the right direction? I'd like something in a smooth Cocobolo with a thumb rest. Also, are these things as easy to change out as they look, or is there something I don't know about? As always, sometimes the simple jobs turn out to be not so simple. Thanks in advance.

As I mentioned above, another thing you have to be careful of are the grip screws. My UFX Camper Model has grip screw countersink diameters of 5/16" (.312 dia.). That is too large of a head diameter to fit most of the wood replacement grips. Which means you have to have different screws in order to make the grips work. Browning sure has made this difficult compared to the Ruger Mk. II or III.

there are no aftermarket grips that will fit these, or at least none that I can FIND. I like the URX factory rubber grips, some nice good looking checkered wood ones would be great. I wonder WHY browning designed the strange grip frame this way??!!
Just to be clear. This is the exact model Buckmark that I have. And I have no idea why Browning designed this gun this way, with so many different grip frames. It's ridiculous!

Bill T - A number of grips shown are sold out, but all grips shown will fit either the UDX, UFX, or URX frames.

How are you ascertaining that when most all of them say specifically they WILL NOT fit UDX, UFX, or URX frames. Don't you see that in red type at the bottom of every one? I'm not understanding why you are saying these grips will fit, when it specifically says they will not.

are you guys looking at the same site? I got curious & did a quick spot check. Several of the grips indicate in the description/title what model they fit, others indicate what it will or won't fit in the more detailed description. I see no evidence that "Not one will fit UDX. UFX, or URX frames."

O.K. I'll walk you through this. Go to this website and click on these code numbers:

#B5152861

#B5152866

Now, that is virtually every wood set of grips in stock. NONE will fit UDX, UFX, or URX frames. Again, it say's so in bright red print at the bottom of each one!

As I said before, some gun part suppliers do not know what they are selling. Browning since about 1985 has only made three Buckmark frame sizes, the UDX, UFX and URX. If you take the time to do a little research and match these grips up with the pistols they are for, you will learn what frame sizes they are. These suppliers are not doing the consumer any favor with these statements.

Bill T - You're right. All of those you listed are labelled as not fitting the 3 frame styles noted. But all the wood grips listed for the UDX frame will obviously fit the UDX frame. Some in stock, some not. Not to put too fine a point on it, your original statement was not one of the nice wood grips in stock would fit any of the three frames, which is just as inaccurate as Waterking566's statement that all the grips shown will fit either the UDX, UFX, or URX frames.

I sympathize with your not being able to find some nice wood grips for your Camper UFX. The wood grips were the primary reason I bought my first Buck mark, a UDX Plus with Rosewood grips. Only one I have. Took me over one year to convince my Significant Other that the UDX walnut gripped version was not really an inferior product and she finally bought one.

Chim's Grip sticky might be helpful too.

Correct. Those for the UDX finger groove frames are marked as such, and obviously will fit those frames. As Waterking mentioned, this is a bad case of suppliers not knowing what they have. Or what fits what. It all but assures you the purchaser of getting the wrong grips. Then you're forced to deal with a return situation. I wish these people knew what they were selling. Of course none of this would be necessary if Browning would have built this gun around one single grip frame instead of 3+. I've been researching this for days now, and even I'm not sure how many grip frames total the Buckmark encompasses.

In continuing to investigate the Browning Buckmark grip fiasco, I found this out. I'm looking for any experienced Buckmark owners / shooters to verify. Grant you this information comes from Wikipedia, which is why I would like to verify it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browning_Buck_Mark

According to it, the Browning Buckmark comes in 3 frame sizes. UDX, URX, and UFX. According to their chart, both the Camper and the Hunter models have UFX frames. If this is true the factory Cocobolo grips that come standard on the Hunter model should bolt right up to the Camper UFX, no?

If this is the case, all I have to do is order a set of Browning factory Hunter Cocobolo grips and call it a day. But as I say I'm looking to verify this. I could try to switch them out, but I would rather find out for sure before I start getting out tools.
