Brand new 22/45 lite liner is loose

Picked it up from the LGS this morning. Went to the gun club to try it out. Accuracy was "minute of 2 gallon bucket" at 25 yds from a bench with several different ammo makes. Gave pistol the once over and found the barrel liner would move forward and back approx .030". Also rotates like a clock the same amount. Nut is tight on barrel and moves with it. Guess quality control missed this one.

I'd start with the LGS and see if they'll help you on this one, some will, some won't, failing that call Ruger Monday morning and get the ball rolling. They'll fix you up.

Received my 22/45 lite back from Ruger today. Repair ticket states---"replaced threaded barrel and barrel nut, and function fired with 40 rds of CCI Mini-mags." Turn around time was only 6 days, and the pistol was delivered to my front door.
I would say that is great customer service.

Man, those wizards at Ruger sure know what the BEST .22 rimfire ammunition is to feed a NEW pistol. That's what I recommend also for initial shooting with a new pistol, CCI Mini-Mags. :bthumb: I agree, that's superb customer service and hope your pistol now performs to your wishes. :bthumb:

My Barrel nut is now loose

Hi Folks, some many moths ago I posted here on my Black LITE 22/45 barrel threads cracking when used with a Suppressor. They gave me a complete new gun. Well I shot about 4000 rounds with a Pac-Lite compensator. Yesterday I go to take it off to use the suppressor finally and the barrel nut will move out of the sleeve instead. I had to put a hex key into the slot to get the comp off. So in 4000 rounds the epoxy and torque on of the barrel nut has failed. I have a pic I am trying to upload, but it only allows links to pics, I can find the upload pic button?

Another call today to Ruger is in order.

WOW! Now that's disheartening to hear, and only reaffirms why I will never own a Ruger "LITE". :shakehead Way too many stories like this, here, and on other forums. I'll stick with the Ruger Mark II pistols and the steel-frame Ruger Mark III's and avoid the aggravation.

Well, it's a bad news/good news situation. Hopefully, ArtU, Ruger will get yours fixed as fast as wizzer's. :t

But it does make me think twice about getting one of these pistols.

I have had nothing but good things to say about my lite. I don't use it for competitions or match shooting tho. It's more of a varmint/plinking pistol for me. I carry for woods/farm use. I have no comp or suppressor and the thread saver is snugged. I mean my girlfriend can remove the nut but not open a 2 liter:rolleyes: Rabbits, coons, possum, rats, empty cans, snakes, even crows every now and then aren't safe with this thing. I really can't complain. There prob isn't 2000 rounds through mine yet due to the way the ammo is (I got ammo, Just been easy on the stock pile). Hopefully if anything ever happens ruger takes care of it just like the full steel guns, I don't see why they wouldn't. Even if the lite goes out of production years from now and they would do a trade for something comparable, that would suit me just fine. It seems like anybody who has had an issue has had ruger take care of it as quickly as anybody could really expect.

Don't get me wrong, I do like my Lites, I have the original and I put desert camo grips on it to match the gold. I have this black one, and I also have the new Muffler holes in the bear metal sleeve model. This is being shipped to Ruger today, they want to see what happened. In the future, guns smiths are going to simply need to know the torque to apply to a spanner and glue it back on. They would not tell me but someone will find out someday. If I knew the torque setting, I would have fixed it.

Here is what it looks like inside the sleeve with the nut taken all the way off yesterday.

I also have the 22/45 target bull barrel model as well.

I shipped the 22/45 out Wednesday of Last week. It arrived at Ruger Friday of last week. Tuesday they sent me notice it was shipped back to me, and today it arrived back with barrel nut replaced. 8 days turn around with a major holiday weekend in the middle, that's good service.

Hey Art,

It's good to read that Ruger fixed you up like they should have done initially with that pistol. I really do hope that "someday", they get these Lite pistols to the exalted level that the Ruger Mark II guns have held for their duration of perfect running. :bthumb:

Well, this just happened to my 22/45 Lite!!
Got my pistol last Thursday.....haven't even shot it yet!

Looking at it today and I took the threaded barrel cap off and the barrel nut came right off with it! I don't see any sign of epoxy in there.

Called Ruger and they have already emailed me a return label! :bthumb:

My bronze lite bbl nut came loose after about two hundred rounds. I suspect it loosened sooner because I would periodically check the protector and thought I was tightening that back up. Then when the front blade came loose and I was reattaching it I discovered the issue. Not happy at all. My LGS is going to fix it. If it happens again it goes in for an exchange. If it happens again it goes to ruger after that. Now I have to wait to make my mods. Dang it.
And for info there was no lock tite or epoxy on the threads.
