Hi,been a while since I've been on.
Changed jobs and now have more time to do things I enjoy.
My main rifle is a Ruger precision rimfire. In 22lr
My main use for my rifles is plinking/squirrel hunting.
Soon I'm gonna file to get my tax stamp
Can I get some of your opinions on the best suppressor for hunting.
To me durability and ease of cleaning are important.
Thank you

First any suppressor post should be in the NFA area so I’m sure a mod will move this soon. Second, which have you considered? They all work good and some like the sparrow are the easiest to clean but imho still require an ultrasonic cleaner to clean them correctly.

The Dead Air Mask is a good choice for hunting since it’s first round pop is extremely quiet. The Silencerco Sparrow has fewer parts to deal with and it’s easier to clean than the Mask, but if you’re using The Dip, that’s not an issue. Both are tried and true and both have a following, as do the many other ones out there.

The Mask is quieter but really does require a good cleaner and more time to keep it clean and functioning good. Mine will be hard to get out of the main body if I shoot over 200 rounds between cleaning. But the ultrasound and some dish soap clean it like new.

Hunting I would go for light and unobtrusive. I have an AB Suppressors Little Bird for that. Sub 3 oz and disappears on the barrel. All aluminum construction but it's not that hard to clean if you coat the baffles with dielectric grease when new and after cleaning.

The problem with shooting 22lr suppressed is it's the most fun you can have with your pants on. And suppressors are addictive. I have a Silencer Co Switchback for the rest of my rimfires. Modular design can be configured 4 different ways to suit the host. Sure, it's a lot of parts, but it's pretty simple to break down and reassemble.

I have all Silencerco…the Warlock II and the Sparrow were $200 each before “tax”.

The Warlock is 3 oz, not for FA or 17 HMR use. Love it on the handguns, works fine on rifles. But it’s been discontinued.

The Sparrow is 6.3 Oz, IIRC. It’s a little finicky to reassemble, IMHO.

The Mask is a solid option, but I like the adaptability of the Switchback, and I’d bet the costs will be similar.

Probably a little late here and I don't know if you can still get them but I have a Ruger Silent SR and have put thousands of rounds through it. Weighs next to nothing and with subsonic .22 ammo just as quite as any other suppressor I have been around. Only possible downside is SS baffles instead of titanium.
