Bald Eagle BE1122-3" Front Bag Reviews

I have done searches but haven't turned up much about the Bald Eagle 3" front bag. My main concerns are the durability of these bags and how they shoot. My front rest is a Caldwell Rock BR that I went through and improved where needed. I'm not competing, just shooting for fun with my friends.

If it's a good bag please let me know. Likewise, if it's a piece of junk that falls apart I want to know.

The other front bag I'm considering is the Protektor 3" Square Ear Bag. I own several Protektor bags and like them.

Thanks,

I decided on the Bald Eagle front bag, as it seemed to be the best fit for my shooting. It is a very well made bag, and it bolts right onto my Rock BR rest like it was made for it. I'm glad the bag has two fill spouts because it was a PITA to get the fill material in the ears. I used the rounded back end of shop tweezers to help push the fill into the ears.

The fit of my rifle's 3" bag rider is excellent. Using the adjustment on my rest I can go from a relaxed fit to a very tight grip on the bag rider. I use a not-quite-snug fit, and with talcum powder the rifle slides smoothly. I don't shoot free recoil, putting very slight shoulder pressure on the butt. (My cheek doesn't touch the stock) When I need to I can slide the rifle back and then forward against the forend stop to ensure it is set up correctly on target.

I waited to shoot with the bag a few times before posting to give a good performance asessment. I like the bag because it seems to be durable and it does what it's supposed to.

Thanks for your feedback, Bill.

If you arent sooting a gun with a 3 inch wife flat bottomed stock youre gonna have a lot of movement.
I believe the response quoted was meant as an affirmation that 3" wide flat forends are a huge help for accurate and repeatable shooting. Never really having shot benchrest, it was an eye popping WOW! moment for me. I couldn't believe how easy it was to keep the rifle steady. Shooting tiny groups with the setup was an another WOW! moment, the stability and repeatability being so much greater compared to shooting rounded-bottom varmint style stocks off a bench. I'm happy to be going down this rabbit hole.

Well, one thing is clear to me, the Protektor Bag is made in Pennsylvania. Grizzly has quit marketing the rest and
who makes the bag now is an unknown, probably not in the good old USA.
I have this bag and shoot with a wide slide plate, and it is great old fashion quality as you already know having three of them.

Regarding the durability of the bag, if it turns out to be a POS I will certainly report on it and trash the bag every opportunity I get. I have several Protektor bags, both front and rear, with some being many decades old. I whole-heartedly agree as to the quality and performance of the Protektor products.

It's been six months since getting the front bag, which has seen its fair share of use. After initially playing with the setup it has performed beautifully. The rifle forend slides smoothly and effortlessly in the bag. Other than the talcum powder (which I no longer use or need) on the contact surfaces the bag looks like new and is holding up well. The bag installs in my Caldwell Rock BR front rest like it was made for it. I'm a satisfied customer and can recommend this bag.
