My 20” is definitely more accurate than my steel 18”.

 

Just picked up a gen1 acc premiere for it as well and still trying to decide on scope but leaning towards a 6-24 shvj

 

As stated its worth it for the balance. If the new 20" had been available when I bought my 18" I would have went with the 20".

 

If we are talking , 22 lr, the last I looked the 20" Heavy option was $1100 and the 18" steel was $650. Did I miss something?
That said, I've had some impressive results with my 18" steel B14r. I've also read enough "Meh" reports on the 20" barreled action to keep this 22 junkie from "needing" to try one at the $450+ price difference.. IMHO, that $ is better spent on better ammo.

The price has dropped dramatically. I’ve seen $899 and people have posted about sales for less. A&J I believe lost their proprietary import on them and with more importers brings more pricing competition.

 

Most are selling the 20" for $750. There is currently one at $640. Do a UPC search and find them all. I bought at A&J just as pricing went down, paid $800 with a code, then a few days later all the others became available. Just my luck!

 

I just ordered the heavy barreled action from Black Hawk Armory on Monday and it got here Wednesday morning. Fastest service I've ever seen. After everything it came to $697. Have not shot it yet.

 

Anyone that just got one, does your serial number end in 24 or 25?

Nope, not unless you widen the barrel channel.

 

Shot my 20" for the first time today. 500 rounds of CCI SV, half in a Bergara mag and the other half in a Vudoo polymer mag. Only had two issues: around the 250 rd mark, one case failed to eject (it extracted fine), and towards the end I intentionally loaded the Vudoo mag sloppily to see if I could induce a failure to feed (I was successful). The weight and balance is great, I'm very happy with it so far. Didn't do any serious accuracy testing, I mostly just plinked at steel gongs and coke cans from ~150 yards.

 

I have the same chassis — aero competition— it’s great for adjustability and the price is hard to beat.

 

Did some looking around today and it looks like they may have stopped producing/selling the 18” barreled actions. Wondering what they might be up to. Hope they come out with a 24” heavy barrel version.

 

Just ordered the 20" heavy today from BattleHawk Armory. $661 with shipping. Now got to decided what to mount it in. No competition for me just shooting off a bench. I'm leaning toward a MDT XRS.

 

If you like the feel of a stock, then the XRS is great way to go - I have one with the enclosed forend and internal weights and it is excellent.

 

Well post #28 pushed me off the fence. I have been waiting or a BMR-X steel to become available, but I couldn't resist the B14R 20" at the above price. It should fit nicely into a XLR Envy chassis. Question though. Since this is sold as a barreled action only, is there any way to make it ARA factory class legal? Say in a HMR stock or even a lesser Bergara stock?

NO!

Picked up the 20" heavy barrel action about 2 hours ago. Already mounted 30 MOA rail & since it's going to be a bench rider it now has a Jewel 1.5oz trigger installed. Just waiting on the MDT XRS chassis to be delivered tomorrow.

 

So the heavy barrel is B14RBA003. What is the best price… Battlehawk?

 

I didn't see any for less than BH that had them in stock. Mine was $711.12 shipped and taxed.

 

Mine was 669 shipped from europtic. No sales tax in Montana though.

 

It looks like Euro has 1 in stock. Free shipping. I went through the checkout process out of curiosity, and it was about $11 more than I paid. So either one is a good deal in my opinion.

 

I was saving up for the 18, but the consensus is telling me to get the 20.
