Atlas Bipod

I've had a Harris bipod for years that I originally bought used. Never used it until I got into silhouette shooting a few years ago. I used it then to check my zero for matches so I didn't have to bring my front rest along. Now I'm planning to get into PRS style matches when they start back up again next spring. I'm considering buying the basic Atlas bipod (BT10 V8). Before I do so I thought I'd get some input here. Will the basic one do the job ok or will I find myself wishing I bought one of the more expensive models with additional features?

At this point I plan to use the Atlas on a Tikka T1x with factory stock. So I'll be buying a picatinny rail that fastens to the sling swivel stud. I've seen several options for this but I was considering this one....

Will this work with the Atlas? If so, I'd buy a few to install on the other rifles

I appreciate any input

Link didnt work do you mean this? https://www.amazon.com/UTG-Swivel-S...-Adaptor/dp/B0053EQNA4/ref=sr_1_21?dchild=1&keywords=Utg&qid=1603336511&sr=8-21

And this Atlas https://www.amazon.com/AccuShot-Atl...words=atlas+bipods+for+rifles&qid=1603337061&sprefix=Atlas+bipod,aps,554&sr=8-5

If so be informed that rail is shorter than the clamp on the bipod. It will work but wont be as secure as it could be, cause the fitmemt wont allow the little weaver like rail line up.

You might look at this https://www.amazon.com/Magpul-Rifle...ords=atlas+bipods+for+rifles&qid=1603337061&sprefix=Atlas+bipod,aps,554&sr=8-15

Yes, thanks for the heads up. I fixed the link

I'm thinking the base model Atlas won't work with that adapter because it appears you'd need two slots to accommodate the two clamp screws. Could be wrong though and that's why I decided to ask

Looking at the options I see a BT10-LW17 with a lever clamp that might work. It's another $80 for that model though. I really didn't want to spend that much on a bipod like the fact that I can easily remove it though. I guess I have to decide if the convenience is worth it

Try these. I believe you will like them. I have been running these for about 1 1/2 years. Using these my rifle is more accurate than using a front bag and stand. The 45 degree settings are extremely good. A multitude of extensions and feet. Making these very adaptable to any situation. Also usable on a number of different firearms with pic rails on them.

They are not as fast to deploy as the Harris. If you are not in a hurry they are great. I like the ability to add sling swivel adapters facing to the side rather than under. The underside gives a twist to the rifle I do not care for.

I like this one as well for the tension lever that is a fast tensioning device. The legs are also spread a little farther apart creating a little additional stability. These bipods have actually turned into a excellent product overall. I would watch some of the models because not all pan right and left.

Your UTG sure seems like it is good to go. Is that the one that will stay stable for you?

I looked at the Accu-Tacs and, unless I missed something, I didn't care for how they looked. Even if they're a better unit I wouldn't want to put one on one of my rifles. I think the Atlas will look much better on the rifles I plan to use it on. Plus I found a nice used Atlas in the Trading Post. So one should already be on it's way to me

I've been trying to find a pic rail like that Caldwell but can't find one locally. I have a Atlas bipod sitting here with the quick disconnect and have not been able to use it but it is a nice bipod. My buddy that's a sniper says it's what he swears by. My cousin, also a sniper and deployed right now also uses them. I'm sure others are good but for my use I think I will like the Atlas.

I ordered 2 of the swivel to pic rail adapters and got them in a couple days ago. Most everyone I looked at on Amazon and eBay came from China and I refuse to order anything that comes straight from there. Found a place in the states that had them, under $17 for 2 shipped and they seem well built.

I agree with what was said earlier, spring for the quick attach mount on the Atlas. I haven't decided which way I want to mount it, swivel in the front or to the back. On my 722 it fits the stock really well this way and I think the sling will still work fine going over the mount when shouldered.

This is the BlackHawk Picatinny Adapter that I selected for use on my Anschutz 1416 with my Joy-Pod.
https://www.amazon.com/Blackhawk-Swivel-Stud-Picatinny-Adapter/dp/B004T14ZZW Tap photo for a lager view.

It has worked perfectly.
Comes with a rubber pad to protect your rifle .
And magically even though it only attaches to the stud, it does not move.
I was skeptical of all of these adapters (including the Caldwell) until I took a chance on this one.
Made in the USA.

Smooth

Also works perfectly with my Tier One Evo.

Thanks Smooth. I ended up ordering the one I linked in the first post and one of these...

The one with the knurled nut didn't seem to have enough room to fit my Atlas with quick release mount. So I used the second one on my Tikka. It's similar to the one you posted including the rubber pad to protect the stock but doesn't have the sling stud. Not sure I'll need it anyway. What I do like about the one I used is that you can adjust it so the bipod is parallel to the barrel when folded. I used the bipod at the range today and it worked very well
