I recently purchased a Henry AR7. Just because I wanted one. Anyway, after reading the many "expert" opinions, reviews, etc., I have a question.
It seems every "review" and posts says the rifle shoots low. After putting 250 rounds through it I've discovered that mine shoots low also. And there's not a lot of sight adjustment on the rear "peep hole" to correct the problem. Because of my aged eyes, I had to bore out the largest peep hole to 1/8th inch (0.125"). I can see and align the sights much better now.
However, the rifle still shoots about 2.5 inches low at 25 yds.. I can hit a target at 25 yards but I have to align the front blade with the top of the target to get the "group" at target center vertically. I'm on center left to right but not vertical. The blade seems to be too tall for where I'm aiming. This seems to be a common factor for this rifle. Many, many years ago, a friend (gunsmith) of mine helped me adjust the aim of a pistol by filing down the front blade sight.
My question to the experts out there is; couldn't I do the same with the plastic front blade of the AR7?
