Anyone with Night Vision on Ruger 10/22?

Has anyone tried using cheap (<$500) night vision scopes on a Ruger 10/22? Were you able to mount them ok on the rail? If you have photos, it would be appreciated.

I think it would be fun to have a 10/22 with night vision for nocturnal plinking.

I was reading something in the AR15.com forums about that. A person was asking about the same question. The reply was to not get a dedicated NV scope, rather a scope that is night vision capable, (most of the illuminated reticle ones are and there are some inexpensive ones that have decent reviews) and use a head mounted NVg with it. I haven't personally tested this but I can see that you could go to different rifles and only spend the big bucks once.

Night vision scopes

Cabela's has ATN Aries series NVSs for $400-600. But for that price you will only be able to get Gen. 1 night vision. And it's only available in 2.5x, 4x and 5x magnification. They also have some up to Gen. 4 and even White Phosphor, which makes it look some what like a black and white T.V. But they also have night vision attachments. These sit in front of your day scope, on a rail, and let you use your current scope already zeroed in. And when you shoot during the day you simply take off the NV. This will cost more as than the $500 as they only make them in Gen. 2 and 3. But if I were to ever do night vision I would got with the attachment, not a dedicated night vision scope. As for using a head mounted goggle setup, that would be very tricky as most NVGs have only one outwards lens. Focus a centre eye piece on a regular scope would be next to immpossible. Plus not sure if you'd be abble to see the reticle.
