what a beautiful rifle! DST as well. It seems to me this is a rather unusual configuration. I don't recall seeing too many Mannlichers with a DST.

Does anyone know if Anschutz ever offered the Mannlicher stock with a LH 64 action?
I don't think so.
DST is not uncommon on a mannlicher. They later got away from it,as I think that they perceived a liability issue with US sales.
This 1418 is also early enough to also have the two piece forearm.

Anschutz made a lot of the Mannlicher style stocks, particularly in the 22 Hornet and virtually all of them had the Double Set Triggers. I owned a few over the years and they all shot very well though they did benefit from being full length glass bedded so the forend pressures stayed consistent.

I think Andyd is pretty much correct. He has an eclectic 'collection' of 'Stutzen' rifles if he'll post pix of 'em again. Think many (most?) of his are 54 action?? The OPs referenced rifle is waaay high for a 64 action, even with DST.

Canster, you're much more Anschutz knowledgeable than I, but I believe the barrel band sling reinforcement was pretty much standard on the early 'stutzen' rifles, mainly because of the 2-piece forestock. My little l984 proofed 1418 of course has a 1-piece stock but it has been modified with a horn(?) grip cap, & a butt pad instead of the butt plate. It too has only a single trigger, with which I'm very happy for hunting. Have never used one of the DSTs but I expect I'd be very happy with it also...

I wish I could find 64 based Mannlicher rifles with double triggers for cheap money. If you dont care about DST than I can almost, no quite, get the comment. Try and find one in person. Sure, pig in a poke internet maybe, very rare in my limited experience.

The problem with used 22's is some are very used and others anywhere in between. This seems more the case for rimfire than center fire. My used rf universe maybe smaller than many and anschutz dst mannlicher, rare and expense including 64's. I should not complain about the comment, though. I conder myself a buyer and not a seller. Price knocking should be fine with me. problem is I am not sure the word is filtering down. I have much better chance to find a deal on a Match 54 than a DST Mannlicher 64.

Edit: These was a DST non-mannlicher (sporter) 64 Anshutz at Scarboough cableas for around $1000(plus ). I was up the next day and neglected to call and put it on hold. Gone 24 hours after it hit the internet. Not even a mannlicher. Gone. And full price - sold.

Price as it were, that is a beautiful and rare rifle and already has a bid on it for $1500.
Someone is going to get a really cool and unique rifle.
I wonder what the DST triggers break at?
I am a sucker for full stock rifles and own a CZ 455 FS. This type of rifle is really popular with the CZ crowd.
Wish Anschutz would make a 17XX series full stock for the US or at least offer it through the custom shop.

Andy, I greedily devour that eye candy every time you 'shamelessly' show off your Stutzen collection. I'm very proud of my little 1418 but when I see your collection it makes me realize how far behind I really am... THANKS!

I found a somewhat beat up (serious scratches, some 6+ inches long and deep enough to be through the finish/surface, and some surface rust on the barrel) 1418 single trigger at a local pawn shop that the owner has tagged at $1250 but already offered $1k even on.
Anyone have any suggestions on value?
I've got a S&W 617-3 that I might trade towards it.
I've always lusted after the CZ452FS, and this is calling to me in much the same way . . .
Thanks.

I find $1,000 quite hefty for a rifle as described. The metal condition concerns me more than the sratched up stock, though. Often the rust is superficial and comes off without harm to the blued finish. There are a few more details that determine the value but what you are looking at is not a collectible but a shooter's grade rifle and I think $850 would be more realistic.

As to the details; is it a split stock with horn schnabel? Is the triggerface serrated or smooth? Which rear sight option is mounted? Original magazine and sling swivels?

In the shape you quote, sounds like he's already pretty much 'maxxed out' on his price. I'm pretty sure I got a bargain on mine bu a few (4-5) years ago I bought it off Gunbroker for $685. Had a friend bought one as new for $1200 a year or so later. I have a CZ 452 full stock 22LR that I also bought off Gunbroker more'n 10yrs ago for $207 used. PO said it wouldn't shoot to suit him. Guess his standards were lots higher than mine 'cause I loved it 'til I acquired my 1418. Now the CZ FS feels more like a club alongside the 1418... Lookswise they may be close but there's no comparison in handling!

Harv,
You always do bring out pretty guns and those two are no exception.

Andyd,
I should clarify that he offered it to me for $1k, not me offering $1k on it.

I agree that he's still high; it's been there for months and he knows I know this, so I think I've got a fair chance of talking him down further.
I don't believe it had a split stock or horn Schnabel, I don't remember whether the trigger was smooth or grooved. The rear sight was a flip up plate that looked similar to this

No idea on the sling swivels, or the magazine really, but the mag looks to hold 7-10rds. Certainly sticks out of the bottom of the stock a goodly way.

I'm thinking I could probably talk him down another $100-200, so I might take that 617 in some time this week and see where it leads.
Thanks.
