I would say that someone brought that one back from Europe-probably a serviceman. An unknown scope here, and that German #1 reticle is very European.

I've always been sort of a 54 action snob, but I've always liked these little mannlichers, and have come close to buying one several times.I've also thought that the 64 action sporters of the 1960s,were pretty sweet.I wish that I knew about the single shot version as a "ute",as that would have been totally up my alley back then.and nice upgrade to the rusty Stevens single shot bolt action that I started with.

ps:Though the scope is period, the gun is deserving of something better.Optics have come a long way in 46 years.

Yes optics have come a long way in 46 years but IMHO leave the scope and rifle as is. Not every rifle needs to be sub 1/2". I recently acquired a Styer Zephyr from 1954 and initially thought I would replace the "old" scope with some modern optics, but as I researched the Lyman Alaskan that came on the rifle I found out both the rifle and the scope were from 1954. I figured who am I to separate the two if this package had been together for 63 years. I will leave this one alone. There have been and will be others to drive myself crazy over scope/ring combos.

Beautiful rifle! It would fit nicely in my .22 Mannlicher collection.

Thank you for your interest in my post !

I have a small Williams aperture sight that fits snugly onto the 11 mm scope rail - I think I will use it as an alternative to the Waldläufer rifle scope. What you wrote about separating the rifle from its scope is exactly what the gundealer told me upon selling them to me : that it would be a shame to part the two of them.
