aguila colibri, super colibri, and CB longs

Tested these 3, Aguila colibri was quietest, an indoor round that id say would be accurate to like 20 yrds. Super colibri was faster and had more FPS than regular colibri, but was slightly louder, SLIGHTLY.

Super colibri and CB longs were almost the same noise, but CB may have been slightly louder. By far the most powerful accurate and effective of these 3 would be the CB long. All 3 are quiet enough to shoot indoors without earmuffs (with my walmart special 10-22).

none cycled my 10-22 but from now on, for quiet bullets im gona buy CB-longs, relatively accurate even at around 100 yrds. colibri was like shooting a red ryder bb gun. super colibri was like shooting a decent air rifle, CB-long was more powerful than any air rifle ive shot.

CB-longs are way more accurate than the other 2. My definition for "relativly accurate" for a no-gunpowder .22 bullet is more accurate than a BB-gun,

I have PMC moderators also, they are way louder than CB-longs or the other 2 i mentioned, they have a good echo but you dont need earmuffs. I have no doubt that pmc moderators are way more accurate than CB-longs. The most accurate ammo ive used is Wolf match target, 1 dime size hole 5 shot at 50 yrds with a slightly modded WW special.

let me put it this way, for the aguila colibri i had to aim about 20 feet high to hit anywhere near this crab trap bouy(within 10 feet). for super colibri it was prob 10 feet high to come near the crab trap(could prob get within 4 feet of the bouy). for CB long it was prob 4 feet above the target and it would be within 1 foot of the bouy consistantly.. THe crabtrap was prob 100-120 yrds. i could see the bullets hitting the water.

First thing, I have had alot of experience with all 3 of these loads (aguila colobri, super colobri and CCI CB longs). The standard aguila colobris are not reccomended for rifles, they move so slowly that they are only reccomended for pistol length barrels, as some have had problems with them lodging in longer barrels. I shoot the super colobris alot. They work great for pest control, whacking pigeons, rats ect. anyway. at 30 ft (my normal rat shooting distance) I can shoot a ragged hole with the aguila super colobris out of my rossi r22b single shot and it's crude sights. CB's are more accurate at distances up to 25 yds anything past 30 yards I use remington subsonics, they function the action of my 10/22 well and are accurate. The CB's are a bit louder than the super colobris, but you get more killing power.

This is true. However I have shot them out of all my .22 rifles with no problems. My longest barrel is 22 inches.

Super Colibris will stick in the barrel of my CZ452 within about an inch of the end. You can almost shake them out!!! But in shorter barreled rifles they work well. I shoot them diagonally across my garage ( 30 feet ) and it's a hoot...however, they are filthy and velocity seems to vary greatly. One shot is high, the next one is low. CB longs are by far the best. Still pretty darn quiet ( compared to a std. velocity round ), especially in a rifle. You can stop them with a sheet of plywood out of my NEOS and I'm sure that for pests at close range they would be fine.

There is no point comparing the Colibri and the CCI Long CB

It is like comparing apples and oranges.

The two Aguila Colibris have no gunpowder, just a potent charge of ELEY-made primer. They are primer-only loads.

The CCI .22 Long CB (and its little bro .22 Short CB), are loaded with approx. one (1) grain of gunpowder, besides the primer.

I was compareing the 3 because they are quiet, none cycle semi autos, and they are all even quiet enough to shoot indoor. CB-longs were only slightly louder than the super colibris, but way better, heavier and faster. much better deal

CCI Target Shorts ROCK!

andy13186,

Yes, of course, I see.

Better still, the ammo of choice in this category (regardless of powder charge), that is clean-burning, extremely accurate, hard-hitting way out to 50meters/55yards, consistent and unbelievably quiet is the CCI Target .22 Short load, Production Number 0037:

SPECS: 29grains/1.88grams, Vo = 830fps/251mps and Eo = 44Ft.lbs./60Joules!

This load is a true Classic rimfire. I have been shooting it since 1997 and each Lot# performs the same as any other. Eley-type consistency made in the good ol' US of A; worthy of immitation and support from us all.

Merry Christmas :)

I gotta try some super colibri

Want to use the 452 scout indoors on our airgun swing targets and 12ftlb would be fine. I will order some as they are hard to find around here.

The 452 trainer is quiet with PMC Moderators but they are too loud for indoors in the Scout, Ma says 'quiet it down down there!'. :1t

Moderators would ruin the air gun swing targets.

recurveshooter,

You may wish to give RWS Flobert BB and CB Cups a shot (or two). They are pushing 17grain pills @ 750fps, a bit faster than CCI CB Shorts, and when acu'rzed with Paco's tool (one light tap), they are extremely accurate and very quiet from a 22"-bbl rifle.

The RWS BB Caps and CB Caps are available here: http://www.22ammo.com/bbcb.html
Them Rws CB's is expen$ive! My super colibri brick will be here Friday, I'll be shooting the airgun trap with the 452 Scout, 11ftbls and 550fps is slightly more powerful than the Crosman 2250 CO2 pistol, also a basement/backyard blaster.

I would pay for the RWS CB's if a true need was there, if they gave improved performance. $78/brick is just too much $$$$$.
