Which barrel do you think would perform better at 50 or even 100 yards? A Acculite lightweight fluted or a tacsol xring fluted barrel?

Well I guess I'll carry on with my secondary plan which is far cheaper. I've had good luck and results with my own barrels... So I'll do that for now and end up buying a Kidd later on. May not even put a good barrel in this build. I Think I'm about to start playing musical gun parts again here soon. My At-one gun deserves a kidd barrel since it has the nicest (by far) trigger I own.

I have a 10" Acculite on my Charger, it's easily a one moa barrel - with the right ammo of course. Then tenon is 6061 tempered aluminum, I was a bit concerned about that at first, but after hundreds of rounds through the barrel the tenon face looks no worse than my Kidd or factory barrels. FWIW I no longer worry about damage to the Acculite breach face caused by hammering from the bolt.

have you tried removing that barrel since you put your hundreds of round through it...we had a heck of a time getting an aluminum tenoned barrel off my buddies action....that barrel had been on for a few years of weekend plinking/dueling tree blasting...the tenon had been mushroomed a bit from being hammered by the bolt...we could twist the barrel easily, but not remove it…
Funny you should mention that. While the Acculite instructions mention a tight fit of the tenon in the receiver, and even that sanding the tenon may be necessary - that was not the case with my barrel. In fact the diameter of the tenon was the same as those on two Ruger factory barrels, 0.686”. In contrast a Volquartsen barrel which requires heat to install measures 0.689”. So they slipped right into the receiver without interference. I used a Gunsmithers block to obtain proper barrel alignment.

In spite of the “loose” fit the barrel shoots very well at 25 yards. For my use it is totally satisfactory and I’m very pleased.

In the dim past Acculite (ne Wistlepig) offered fade anodizing and octagonal barrels, so yours might have been one of those. Prior to purchase I did a lot of research across multiple rimfire forums looking for your exact issue with WP barrels. All I found were positive reports with no mention of difficult removal. I’m not concerned with tenon mushrooming - at this time.

Surprised to see the reactions to Tacsol.
I have both an xring and xring performance barrel.
They both shoot great.

The xring takedown barrel i use around the farm for critters and it shoots fantastic, same with the xring performance barrel.

These targets are at 50 yards, each square is 1". Shooting both CCI standard velocity and Aguila subsonic.

Xring takedown with red dot target:

Xring performance target with Leupold vx-freedom rimfire.
