A couple of S&W kit guns (pre model 34 and a 63)

It’s been a good summer for finding S&W kit guns in my neck of the woods. The first is a like new pre model 34 (blued with a 4 inch barrel) that dates back to around 1955. The second is a very nice model 63 (no dash) with a pinned 4 inch barrel (stainless finish) from 1981.

Neither has been shot much and the blued one has been handled very little. No box or papers with either, but I was just happy to find them. I’m fortunate to have several great LGS in the area that occasionally have cool old stuff for sale.

The 63 will get shot and carried in the field, while the pre model 34 will continue to live a pampered existence. I’ve got a round grip model 34 from 1959 with some wear that gets carried in the field and shot as well.

The 63 now brings my S&W collection into a new decade, the 1980’s. It is the newest S&W that I own.

I’ve been selling out my S&W J frame 22s. I like them but carry old K22 which I had since a kid. I have a 34 and 63-5 I took on a trade. I don’t like the fiber optic sight. It’s in trade pile. Just sold 3 other older J frames. The only J that was total mistake was the 317. So light you wouldn’t believe it, but I couldn’t hit a bull in the butt with it.
