I recently purchased a 942 22LR - it is a great pleasure to shoot

QUESTIONS:
1) How difficult it to change the grip-?
I have poor hand strenght
I am considering taking my 942 to my LGS so they can change the grip
2) I have a Hogue grip for 605 - is this compatible with the 942 22LR-?
Thank you

I believe it's very similar to my Tracker, so a single Allen screw in the bottom of the grip and it slides right off.

The 942 factory grip is pinned with a pretty small roll pin. I can't say for sure if the 605 grips will fit the 942, but if your careful it's not to difficult to drive the pin out of the factory set to try the 605's. I tried to find clarity on the differences in these two frame sizes, but all I can find is basically the same as what I already knew. The 942 is considered a compact frame size, where as the 605 is considered a small frame size. However some say they could still have the same grip frame size and "might" use the same grips.
It seems like the punch size I used to drive out the roll pin was 3/32". Once you drive the pin out the grip will pull right off. Hope this helps.

To remove the rubber grips on any Model 85/856 series revolver is simple. This includes the 327, 94, 941, and 942 as they all use the same frame and grips.

  1. Drive small pin out the remove the rubber grips.
  2. If replacing with a one piece grip then install grip and then replace the pin.
  3. If replacing with two piece grips then reinstall the pin before installing the grips. The pin helps hold the two piece grips in place.
From what I could find the 605 grips will fit the 85/856 frames. There are some exceptions such as the polymer frames. Make sure to test fit.
