6 targets from a CZ 457/Lilja

Hi, guys. Here's a half-dozen on a sheet from my CZ 457 with a Lilja 0.9 x 21 with a Harrell tuner. (No cherry picking, these were shot sequentially.)

This is a 50-yard target sheet from a club game we shoot we call the groundhog game ... 'cause the target is a bullseye within an outline of a groundhog. On the 25-yard and 50-yard target, it's a half-cirle bullseye. The trick here is, you do not want to shoot low, 'because if your shot does not at least touch the horizontal line on which the bull rests, it's called "in the grass" and scores a zero. In other words, a nicely centered 10 just a touch too low is good for nada, zip, the goose egg. You put one in the grass, it means the best you're gonna score on that target is 40. As you can imagine, everyone breathes a little easier when we move past 25 and 50 and onto 75 and then 100, on which have full-circle bulls and no grass.

On the first three stages (25, 50, 75) it's five shots for score on each of five targets on that card. Plus, there's a sighter area you can use to your heart's content. You have 15 minutes to shoot your sighters and scoring shots.

I don't normally save targets and didn't know I still had this target. Was putting up after a practice session Sunday evening and found this one on another piece of cardboard still in the vehicle, still in the target frame. I think it's from a practice day, although I'd have been doing it on the clock, as I do run a timer when I'm doing match practice.

These are all 5-shot groups, though I think from appearances I might have put a sixth into Target 4. Must have been getting a bit casual, eh? Or I had a round left and did it for snits and giggles 'cause I had a round left over and I was just shooting practice. Who knows?

I'd call this a good target, but not remarkable. On some low-wind days a guy or a few guys will "clean" 25 and 50 and score the 250 max on each card. It's best- edge scoring, so any part of your shot just has to catch the line of the better number to get that number. I think these 5 scoring targets below would all be 50s, but there's one on Target 2 that might be just a touch high. On a match day, I'd had ask the guy next to me or the match director to plug it for a ruling. If you look on the low left shot on Target 5, that one's almost a zero, but it would score as it does catch the line.

It's a fun game.
