Smok3y thank you for all the knowledge I hadn’t thought about some of what you mentioned . I shoot from a bench rest I currently have a 455 American with lilja varmint tapper original American stock my woods gun.455 pro varmint in the Boyds it’s ok had to be bedded 457 MTR I like it quite well . The new action457 has a 26 x .900 lilja on it so a long forend would be preferredI would ask how do you plan to use it? They are very personal, so what you favor might not be what others favor and might need for different reasons.
I have owned several CZs with normal wood stocks and Boyds stocks, KRG Bravo, Manners, MPA, and now the MDT ACC2. I will saw that I prefer the chassis for better fitment to the action, more adjustability, places to put weight, and the ability to swap grips.
Fitment - I have seen too many rifles that just don’t fit in the stock well, and must be bedded to get anything out it, requiring bedding not for supreme accuracy but just for some accuracy.
Adjustability - I think adjustability is super important and until you have it, you don’t know what you are missing. The rifle should fit YOU. I have seen too many people go off what other say instead of what is actually comfortable (like super low rings).
Grip - After trying many rifles and grips, I’ve come to realize that grips play a super important role is not only comfort but also ensuring proper technique and repeatability. Don’t overlook it.
Weight - Being able to add weight for PRS type shooting for balance is great, but also for keeping the rifle super stable.
Manners - I liked it overall, but I would want one with the adjustable cheek at a minimum. Adjustable LOP would be nice. No where to add weight, so balancing requires the right barrel first, or hanging weights below your ARCA. Seem some fitment issues, had mine bedded. Grip is ok, like how wide it is and vertical but would prefer adjustability. Most expensive but comes with least stuff and needs most addons.
KRG Bravo - Didn’t care for all the plastic, but it is meant to be a cheap option, so that’s what you get. Didnt like the fixed grip again. Like the adjustable cheek, LOP spacers or add on LOP adjuster, and it had places to put weight. I didn’t like how it balanced. Backbone inside is like a chassis, so that is nice. I like it on a budget, but wouldn’t be my first choice.
MPA - Been a long time, since one of my 455’s, but it was my first real chassis, and I remember loving the change! They have only gotten better. Excellent fitment. Full adjustability in cheek and LOP. Plenty of places to add weight and pick your grip. I actually love their fat grip with the finger placement hump. Really allows for repeatability, but you gotta like that. If you don’t pick and AR style grip. I also like their bipod spigot to extend your bipod further and get the rifle lower. The chassis is actually pretty wide too if using for PRS type stuff. Price was around double the KRG but I felt it double the quality.
MDT ACC2 - Current rifle. I really like the chassis. I would have preferred the buttstock from the Gen1, but I also don’t need to adjust often so I can let it slide. Plenty of room for inner and outer weight options. Pick any AR grip you want. Super stable excellent fitment. I really like this chassis. Price was actually the same as the MPA, but is most often $250ish more. I would love to have them side by side instead of years apart…
Beat advice I can give is to buy, try, sell, repeat… until you find what you like. Don’t expect to find the best option on the first try based on the options of others that may have different biases.
Added some pics. Can’t find the MPA with the CZ but found one with my old Vudoo.
Using for what? I don't compete in NRL22, nor am I an expert on the subject, but but AFAIK, the big advantage to a chassis is the ease with which to add weight, and to tweak that weight to get the balance just so. Relative to a good stock (e.g., Manners), though, the action & barrel sit a bit higher in a chassis, so the tradeoff is a bit less stability & fine precision, but given the event structures & rules, some feel the tradeoff is worth it in PRS events, whereas it'd be an outright disadvantage in more precision-based events. What’s your preference woox MDT premier KRG .What’s everyone using ?
I just got a Manners VPT stock not very long ago. I don't recall seeing it on their website, but I emailed them directly, and they were happy to build me one. Whatever you might be interested in, it'd be worth a call or email.I love that style of manners but it’s no longer offered
momoko that red looks pretty cool definitely an eye catcherI got my PDC Custom chassis yesterday in Blood Red. (A bit darker than Ferrari Red ) and so far I'm impressed. It took about 5 mon ths.
The CZ action sits nice and snug. The screws tighten down hard with no flex. So far it's torqued down at 20 ft-lbs. We'll see how that works.
I need to get a correct pistol grip, but this unused LaRue grip will have to do until my MDT grip comes in. Quality is exceptional for the money.
