457 MTR search is over!

I have been keeping an eye open for a nice stocked MTR for 3 or 4 years and finally found one. It seems like there are allot of MTR's that must have arrived to dealers recently. Through my local sporting goods store, I learned that a couple of their other stores had six each of them showing in stock. A couple phone calls later and some pictures texted to me by a couple of very helpful salesman, I had my name on this one! Certainly worth the wait.

A friend of mine picked one up as well. We shot them this morning but the cold wind was really howling. Got them on paper at 25 yards and pretty much one hole. Move out to 50 and the best I was able to do was .5" with Eley Club. SK Standard ended up about an inch. We called it a day after about 30 rounds each as the wind was really beating us up. Looks promising though.

What a beautiful rifle, I wish my MTR had wood like that!

Congrats on the gorgeous wood! I know how you feel. As a former trapshooter, we are known for our passion about nice wood and I was hoping for a decent piece on my MTR. The inventory of CZ firearms is so roller coaster-like because CZ only ships to other countries by the container-full so one day there are none and suddenly they are everywhere only to dry up again.

I had my name on several dealers' waiting lists and when one called to say he had just received three and would give me his pick of the nicest wood, I took this one (the upper rifle in the photo). It shoots pretty fair considering my 78-year-old eyes' mild crop of cataracts.

It since has put five shots into 0.329" at 50 yards. I'm still working with it at 100 yards.

I hope you have good Luck with yours. Mine had a bad chamber. Extractor relief cuts were cut all the way into the chamber wall. The sent it back yesterday but didn’t state what was done to it. Lately they have been sending them back without actually repairing them. At least by what other people are saying.
