I was looking for a .900, 4 groove, straight 16 ratchet per my gunsmith. He said so stay away from the octagon. I’m completely talking out of my rear by the way, I really don’t know anything. Thanks for the links!

 

I could be wrong. I don’t think you are going find a Shilen or a Muller right now unless someone has one they would sell or a Gunsmith has one they would sell you. I ordered another Muller a month ago and they told me it would be awhile. I said no problem I can wait. I have heard it might be late summer before we see any barrels. I guess mostly due to orders already in being filled.

 

I did get on the list at killoughs about a month ago, also ordered one from Shilen directly with a 18 month eta. I do recall my gunsmith suggesting the Muller, I think he had one in stock. I’m starting to get the feeling you br 22 guys are a bunch of hoarders 😂.

 

Call hart barrels tell them what your gunsmith is asking for and what your build is. I promise you will not be dissatisfied.

 

Action and trigger heading to Mark Penrod today, hopefully he still has the Muller available.

 

I have a rifle with Mark waiting for 2 Muller barrels and he has none in stock and has no idea when he will. The person who does the drilling and reaming is out due to medical reasons.

 

I am going to say your chances of getting a winning quality barrel are pretty much equal with the ratchet, octagon, 8gv, 4mi, bm3gv.

 

Penrod will do you a great job. I dont have any of his rifles, but have shot against a few.

 

I personally have had the best shooting Brux barrel CF. I seen they make RF barrels. So I one day am going to call them and make a custom RF barrel order. Do I think it will shoot. YEP! I know I read all the threads. But a Brux will shoot. Plus it takes the load off Shilen and Muller.

What scopes are you guys using? I was planning on using one of my old cf benchrest scopes like a weaver t-36 with a 1/16th dot, also have some old 36x and 45x leupolds. What are your thoughts?

 

Any of those will work just fine.

 

It just depends on what you prefer. The T36 should work fine or possibly even your older Leupolds. I had a borrowed 45X Leupold on mine up until recently when I bought a Sightron 45X. I have a Weaver 46X on my other rifles.

Otherwise, the sky's the limit on scopes. Spend what you can and get the best you can afford

 

C'mon guys. His statement was fine. I'd like to try a Muller at some point but I wasn't ready to ditch the ratchet based on that statement. We all know some barrels are better than others with either manufacturer

 

I've got Mullers and I have Ratchets. Put the right ammo in them and they shoot good. When I try Aquila SE none shoot.
