What do you do after a shot...

25 Bull Target Shooters. Do you.....

I've actually done both but I usually load and then move. So I chose A. It might even depend on the conditions for me. I think both ways have their merits. Feel free to discuss

What do the rest of you do?

You 25 bull prone shooters are welcome to chime in too

Pat,
I think it's just become a habit for me to shoot, eject, load and then move to next bull as quickly as possible when the wind is favorable.

I'm live in a very windy State also so when the wind gusts come up, I'll move to a sighter and wait. When the conditions change back to a more favorable condition I'll shoot a few into the sighter then move to a record bull.

After the first shot is fired, I eject and place the next round then close the bolt. After jiggling/sliding the gun to get back on the bull I then move on to the next target. Leaving the first target with the gun in the same position in the rest/rear bag as it was fired before moving.
If the target and rest were leveled, there is no elevation adjustment needed on the rest when I arrive at the next bull.

If I have a slam fire one time, I fix the problem and don't take it into consideration in my routine.

I've always done A out of habit. Back when I started shooting BR50 targets back in the 90's I was using my 513T that has a relatively heavy trigger. Later is was USBR targets with my 541X Voelker Match with 8 oz trigger (still heavy compared to what I use today). So no concerns about loading and moving. I did A with my Tikka in ARA factory class too.

Now that I've been shooting ARA Unlimited with really light triggers I've shot thousands of rounds and never had a rifle fire when I didn't want it too. Except, there was one time that I let my ring finger touch the trigger as I was closing the bolt on my X3L and put two shots on one bull. I don't think it was during a match. If it was it was on a sighter and didn't cost me points. It was still kind of traumatic for me and is always in the back of my mind. The triggers on my rifles are absolutely reliable but I'm not. I've also seen others accidentally put two rounds in the same bull during a match. So after that I started doing option B for awhile. For some reason I eventually migrated back to doing it as described in A.

This past weekend I had a couple good cards going and it made me think how mad I'd be at myself if I accidentally put two in the same box. I didn't change how I was doing things but it was on my mind. So I thought I'd ask here what you all do.

I should have a new trigger coming this week to test. After the Bix I have failed miserably on my 2500X (yes, I had it set correctly and no I haven't messed with it since I put my Jewell back on) I'm a little concerned about replacing something critical mid-season. But I think next month I'll have enough time between matches to test at our club before using in actual matches. I'm pretty sure I'll be doing option B for awhile until I have full confidence in the new trigger
